Outstanding location in downtown Detroit. Rooms are terrific, and service excellent. Only drawback is night noise levels from the street, but Detroit is a happening city!
Beautiful hotel and great service. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room had amazing views. The included breakfast was very nice.
Beautiful hotel! The rooms were a nice size. We enjoyed our stay.
Every staff member was very friendly and helpful. A great experience!
Everything . When I first arrived I was greeted by friendly staff, valet was easy to use .
Amazing room! Shower is amazing and beds are very comfortable. Great walking proximity to all of downtown Detroit.
Very clean room, great space and in a very upbeat part of downtown!
The rooms were nice and we ate at the restaurant up on the roof and the food was good but the elevators took forever one was broken for part of the stay and they both were quite slow.
Awesome experience, I really like this Hotel
Came down for a tiger game and had an exceptional experience.
Hotel fine, their bar on the rooftop Very Very pretentious. Stay away from that place. So many better, more welcoming places close by.
great location
liked the setup of room kitchen and shower were far from sleeping area
a lot of windows
Hotel location was great in terms of things to do downtown. Especially any sports venue. The hotel is on a busy street, even though it’s a side street. Hotel rooms were just so so, very spacious but very bland in terms of decor and style. The customer service was ok, not bad but not an excellent experience. We probably wouldn’t return for a stay but it was convenient.
We stayed here for 2 nights while in town for a baseball game and concert. The Element Detroit is well situated and easily accessible from major highways and landmarks around downtown Detroit.
Our suite room was expansive and could have easily slept an additional 4 to 6 people on the couches and sofa bed. I highly recommend it for a family or group of friends staying together as there was so much room. The decor was functional.
There are two things that anyone considering the Element Detroit should be fully aware of before booking:
1. The hotel is triangle shaped. This means in reality it is wedged in between other buildings and the views are not great. We saw brick walls and the backsides of surrounding buildings from our room.
2. Breakfast served at the hotel is lousy. I’m not sure if breakfast included with every room is standard. We got it included with our room rate. Breakfast is served in a dismal Petri dish of a room where the windows look onto dumpsters and brick walls. Guests were coughing and sneezing all over the breakfast room, plus garbage and dish bins left open and exposed. There was a poor selection of food. It tasted awful. The next day we decided to forego breakfast at the hotel and walked 10 minutes down the street to Hudson Cafe. Breakfast was delicious and healthy here.
I would give breakfast here 0 stars if I could.
Went downtown for the night and stayed here. Absolutely beautiful clean rooms, we even had a white noise sound machine in our room. Went up to the Monarch Club. It’s in a great location.
there’s just a number of problems here, most of which cannot be resolved. First, the location is in an extremely congested pinch point of downtown so getting in and out of location is very difficult at night when there’s a sporting event downtown. It took us 20 minutes to move about four blocks on Friday night with a holiday and a baseball game ending.
The room also wasn’t in great condition when I checked in. First, there’s a rattling in the air-conditioning system that was super annoying the first night they got fixed the second day. A greater concern, there was a lot of black mold in all over the grout lines of the shower, which they did clean when we brought it to their attention, but obviously had been there for months.
Second, they put ear plugs and a noise reduction machine in your room for a reason. We were on the 10th floor and there’s an extraordinary amount of traffic but also air-conditioning units on adjacent buildings running, so there’s constant noise. it was then super annoying that housekeeping removed our earplugs in their cleaning process. housekeeping entirely skipped our room on the first day.
While the property is extremely beautiful, there’s a somewhat disjointed experience because the valet service on the ground floor and the restaurant and bar on the top floor are run as separate businesses. You can’t room charge things and it feels like there is a lack of quality control. The first day it took us over half an hour to get our car from valet. Service in the bar area on the penthouse was mediocre.
needless to say, we won’t be staying here during our next trip to Detroit.
Amazing staff. Room was huge and very clean.
I had a great experience with during a recent girls trip. 10/10 recommend, especially if you get to interact with John at the front desk. He went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed, including getting us a glass of milk at 9pm.
