The property was in a good location.
It needed updating ,the bed needed a new mattress and pillows,the top cover wasn't clean.
lovely friendly staff great location spacious bedroom excellent evening meals inc delicious curries and huge scottish breakfast that took half a day to cycle off!

Staff were lovely. Rooms were comfortable.

Nowhere to leave toiletries in the shower.
No complimentary tissues in the room.
Didn't like choices in the dinner menu.
Staff are friendly and try their best. Capable chef in kitchen so food was okay.
Place just needs some care and attention at least, but some major renovation required. Could be an impressive country house hotel given the building and lovely grounds.
Location for the ferry to Northern Ireland

Ernespie Hotel is set in a beautiful location but still conveniently close to the amenities of Castle Douglas.

Our room wasn’t as clean as it should be, had to get the bedding changed, which was done without any hassle and everybody was extremely apologetic.
Amazing driveway & 14 acres of land with great views. Staff are so friendly & make you feel welcome. The owner is extremely professional and nothing is too much trouble

The relaxed attitude of the very Friendly attentive staff.the remote location making it a true getaway from hustle and bustle of city life. The quirky old building gave it an atmospheric vibe.would definitely go back.
Only one thing annoyed me...there was no shelf above the washbasin in the bathroom
Lots of positives about this friendly hotel but quite a few points that need tweaking to make it really good. Very nice staff, lovely breakfast, comfortable bed and good shower.
A bit more attention to detail is needed in cleaning the bathroom, particularly behind doors, skirting boards etc. No hot water in the sink at bed time. Overflowing bin outside bedroom window and dead plants either side of the front door!
