Pros:

Nice business style hotel with a fantastic pool and ocean views. The buffet breakfast and dinner were excellent and very good value.

Cons:

The neighborhood is only ok but it’s easy walking distance to Gallery Cafe and Barefoot. The hotel could use some updating in the common areas.

Disappointed
Pros:

We were extremely disappointed with our stay at Marino Beach Hotel, particularly as this was meant to be the final day of our holiday in Sri Lanka.

The photographs and description of the hotel are, in our experience, very misleading. We booked expecting a beachside resort where the beach was just a few steps away. In reality, the beach is not directly accessible from the hotel and requires approximately a 10-minute shuttle ride. This is absolutely not the beachside resort experience we believed we were booking based on the description and images.

The hotel itself felt very impersonal and lacked the warmth, character and hospitality we had experienced throughout the rest of our time in Sri Lanka. We were also disappointed by what appeared to be a lack of environmentally conscious practices, particularly given the increasing importance of sustainability within the tourism industry.

After such a wonderful holiday travelling around Sri Lanka, this was unfortunately a very unpleasant way to spend our final day. Had the location and beach access been represented more accurately, we would not have chosen to stay here.

Overall, a very disappointing experience and certainly not the relaxing beachside ending to our holiday that we had expected.
