The room was clean and nice. The staff were friendly and the food in the pub/restaurant was very good (we tried both breakfast and dinner). The room did have a fan which was much needed and appreciated. Location was nice and just what we needed to easily get to the sites we saw while there (Chatsworth, Stanage Edge, etc.)

The fire safety light in my room was extremely bright with the unavoidable glow which lit up my room. Poor sleep quality as a consequence unfortunately.

first night complained no plug in wash hand basin.
sorted next day when they took plug from another room. asked for code as wifi did not work. was told late no wifi for guests
no decaff, coffee in room.
third evening our first choice of meal we were later advised no stock. then power failed.
to resolve power a generator was installed, at 2.30 in the morning ! after the alarm had stopped !
still no wifi and no breakfast as kitchen was still out of bounds.
Easy check in, clean and tidy, very reasonable and good quality breakfast.
Location lovely room amazing staff were great
Good pub, cosy atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff - we have been a couple of times and really liked it especially the large private balcony in rooms 2 and 3. Room 2 seems to be the best overall.
The only thing we didn’t like and we said before was the size of the bed. It appears to be a small double which doesn’t feel big enough for two people- if the beds were king we would have had no complaints whatsoever as it’s very clean etc

Promised a balcony but didn’t get one what we paid for
We woke early (we live away from road traffic) so set off before breakfast at 0700. No problems with that!
The staff are all brilliant, kind and attentive! We particularly appreciated arriving just after 1300 and shedding our formal clothing!
Perhaps the loose door handle could have been repaired earlier - my wife ended up locked in the room! The light in the doorway that is outside the bathroom woke my wife every time I trotted! Great idea for some, but I eat sufficient carrots - so can find my way in the darkest room!!
