I travelled to Bilbao for two EPCR rugby finals on 22 and 23 May. Generally, hotel prices in Bilbao were hugely inflated for the weekend, in some cases 10 times usual prices. The prices for Hotel Mural were not inflated, so I booked. I then read some of the reviews, which were far from complimentary and I'll admit I that as I approached the hotel (a 20-minute walk from the local commuter train station) it was with some trepidation. However, my fears were unfounded and me and a friend were warmly received by the owner. We then had a beer and a friendly chat with the owner's mother, who advised us to go to La Arena for dinner. She even walked to the bus with us and told the driver where we should get off. We had a good dinner and saw a spectacular sunset before catching a bus back to Muskiz.
No breakfast, but we found great coffee and pintxos in a café in Muskiz.
The hotel isn't close to town, but we were fine with the €3 train ride, which took 40 minutes.
On the Friday evening after our first match, a train delay meant that we got back to the hotel at half past midnight. The hotel bar was still open and, whilst not planned, we had a very pleasant couple of hours in the bar. Needless to say, we slept very well!
OK - I probably wouldn't take a lady here for a romantic weekend, but for a couple of rugby fans on tour, it was perfect.
The owner of the hotel is one of the most warm-hearthed person i have ever met in my life. No questions, no judgment who you are, just pure hospitality. If only i had time to stay one more night. A little bit off way from the Camino Norte but it is worth your effort to sleep there. Definitly a "must-have" place to stay if you need a private room or some privacy on the Camino!

Clean, had great fun.
Dated. Beds need to be updated.
This hotel is in the middle of nowhere ,its redeeming quality being the local restaurant 2mn walk away, the donibaneko , o where the tapas and the wine are excellent and very reasonably priced.the hotel itself is ok but no internet at all even though the girl at the bar downstairs had it working for her.excellent location to catch the ferry to Rosslare.
No internet
Very handy for the port of Bilbao, unfortunately it was a bank holiday and all restaurants within walking distance were fully
booked, so no food available.
We had snacks with us, so a disappointing end to a days travelling
Got up and no hot water for showering, we left the hotel at 9.15
