Overall not the best experience for the price.
Pros:

Location right downtown was convenient. Breakfast was good

Cons:

Upon arrival there was a piece of clear piece of plastic on the floor. The towels seemed clean but there was some type of black threads that fell out. Housekeeping came in twice before checkout , which both said it was on their paper we had checked out.

Unexpected Cockroach
Pros:

Our experience with this hotel was very good with the exception of an expected response from the corporate management. The second night of three while relaxing after a day of Christmas shopping, I seen a cockroach in the middle of the living room area and it scooted underneath the curtains behind the cabinet that the television is on. After an employee came up and caught it (seemingly reluctantly which I couldn’t blame him) mentioned that it was a big one. Nothing else was communicated with us throughout the rest of our stay. When we were checking out, my wife inquired if there might be some adjustment or compensation, which is typical with a disruption during a stay, the desk manager told her that we would probably be hearing from the corporate management. Nothing yet…

Felt like home in downtown Greenville
Pros:

We chose this hotel because a major winter storm was approaching and we wanted a safe, reliable place to stay. We had stayed here before, though it had been over a year, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by many of the same employees—people who clearly still love working there, and it absolutely shows.

Everything is run with impressive professionalism, yet the atmosphere feels genuinely warm and family-like. Several team members truly stood out: Lynn and Jason from the maintenance team; Marcia and Juan at the front desk; and Edith and Juliana, who make breakfast each morning such a pleasant experience by going out of their way to ensure every guest has everything they need—and more.

Bringing all of this together is the general manager, Derek, whose care and attention for every guest sets the tone for the entire hotel. Because of him and his outstanding team, I honestly don’t think there’s a better hotel in Greenville.

Amazing hotel - highly recommend
Pros:

Fantastic hotel. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Floor to ceiling windows brought in a lot of natural light. The fitness center is amazing. Breakfast space was huge and inviting. 10 of 10 and I would highly recommend. This hotel should be the model for all Residence Inns.

Beautiful Hotel in a Perfect Downtown Location
Pros:

The lobby and decor are beautiful and make a great first impression. The staff was excellent throughout the stay and provided friendly, attentive customer service.

The location is a major plus. It’s right in downtown Greenville and very walkable to restaurants, shops, and attractions.

There were a few downsides. Valet parking was confusing and not explained well. When you request your car through the valet app, it charges you for a full day, on top of the hotel’s daily valet fee. You should only be charged once, but this was not made clear until after I was already charged. The walls are also thin, and the showers are loud. I could clearly hear the room above me showering and could hear housekeeping noise as well.

Overall, it’s a nice hotel with a great staff and location, but clearer communication about valet parking and better soundproofing would make a big difference.

All around poor experience
Pros:

Truly an awful experience at this property. I stay at Marriotts all of the country upwards of 100 nights a year and this was by far my worst experience to date. Firstly, they do not care about your status. If you are a Bonvoy member, please look elsewhere. Secondly, the hotel staff were unfriendly and even rude at times. Lastly, I was erroneously charged for an additional night. When I called the property, they said they would be unable to assist and would need to call the Bonvoy office.

Lacking One Consideration
Pros:

I just checked out of the Reisdence Inn Downtown Greenville. I stayed one night checking in 10/26/25 checking out 10/27/25. I chose the hotel due to the close proximity to the Prisma Health Transplant Center (9 minutes) and it having valet parking. Im an above the knee (right) amputee and I prefer hotels with valet parking for its ease. It came in super handy as it was raining at check out.

I arrived around 5:30 pm. After leaving the car with the friendly valet I headed over to the check-in desk. I was greeted as a Silver Elite Lifetime member. I requested a king size bed on an upper floor with a roll-in shower. I can understand not having a high floor option, I usually don't get it especially as I booked with points. I was told I was not assigned a roll-in shower. This request is a necessity due to the amputation. I was then offered a 2 queen bed on the 2nd floor with a roll-in shower. The gentleman st check-in, super nice and efficient, mentioned the architect did a bad job considering the needs of a handicap person as he/she did not consider the needs of the handicap person. More on this in a bit. I was given room keys, given some options for food, the in hotel restaurant Honey & Oak is closed on Sundays and Mondays, and offered 2 small bottled of water which I declined. Off to the room I go.

I head to the elevator, a short walk around the corner. This is where the fun, being facetious, begins. The gentleman that checked me in was not kidding. ALL the accessible rooms are way far from the elevators. I walked down a long hall, made a left and walked an even longer hall to the almost end to room 203. The person thst designed the placement of these rooms is not nor has a family or friend with an accessible need. Inside the room I go.

The room is HUGE!!! Bigger than I need it to be. It has the typical residence inn amenities, stove top, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, etc. There were the comfortable 2 queen beds, I had a great night sleep, a kitchen table, a sofa, a chair, a side table, and an oval center table. The t.v. was between 2 large windows. I had a lovely view of a roof top in the center of the hotel. All the lights and electronic shades worked.

The bathroom is also big. I forgot to mention I'm used to cruiseship cabins and hotel room smaller such as the ones in NYC and other congested metropolitan areas. The shower seat is plastic and also slippery. There is plenty of water pressure and almost instant hot water. The biggest FAIL is the placement of the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. It is on the other wall, where the shower head is furthest from the shower bench. I take off the prosthetic to shower and stand on the remaining intact leg. I had to balance on one leg, hold onto a rail, pump the liquid body wash with one hand, place it on my body with the one hand, and repeat until fully gathered. I then sit, grab the removable shower head to rinse off. If the shower stall wasn't so large this wouldn't be a problem. This is an EPIC FAIL.

I check out and the young lady thst takes care of that is friendly and personable. We have a nice chat and joke around a bit. I request my car through a text link received when dropping off the car. I can place a tip using the link. The car arrived quickly and the valet is also nice. I didn’t have time for breakfast, didn't see the offering nor kayout.

If it wasn't for the design NOT BEING LAYED OUT FOR THE NEEDS OF A HANDICAP PERSON, this property would have gotten 5 stars.

The hospitality at its finest
Pros:

We stayed at the Residence Inn Greenville Downtown last month for a weekend getaway. This hotel seemed new and was definitely one of the nicest Residence Inns we’ve stayed at. However, the best part was the staff. When we checked in, a young lady named Kelcee, with a huge smile, said, “Welcome, we’ve been expecting you all morning!” Really?? I mean, my husband is a Silver Elite member, and I don’t remember receiving such a warm welcome too often at five-star resorts, even when I was a Platinum Elite member.

She cheerfully explained all the amenities and seemed to genuinely love her job and meeting people. The hotel is nice, but what makes a hotel special is the people working there. Kelcee definitely made this hotel very special.

(P.S. I wouldn’t have remembered her name since that was the only time I saw her, but she left two bottles of water and a pack of Twizzlers with a sweet note in the room. Nice.)
