The room was clean, comfortable and well-maintained throughout our stay. Housekeeping was frequent and thorough, which we really appreciated. The breakfasts were excellent, a great way to start the day. The view from the window was absolutely stunning, easily one of the highlights of the stay. Despite the uphill location, being so close to Narikala Fortress and the old town meant everything was within walking distance once you were up there. Overall a very pleasant and relaxing experience
The location is quite specific. The hotel sits on a hill and getting there on foot is genuinely tiring, especially with luggage. A taxi or ride is strongly recommended for arrival. Worth knowing before you book.
un bel Hotel , colazione ok ma un pochino monotona , posizione veramente molto ripida però con una bella vista .
Lo consiglio
We spent two wonderful weeks at Citadel Narikala Hotel and were very happy with our choice. The hotel is located in a truly unique setting, built into the hillside just below the ancient Narikala Fortress, which has watched over Tbilisi for more than 1,500 years. During our stay the fortress was undergoing restoration and was partially covered with scaffolding, but this did not diminish the experience at all. Every day we watched streams of visitors climbing up to the fortress while we enjoyed the spectacular views from the hotel terrace.
The greatest asset of this hotel is its location and panoramic views. From the terrace and many of the rooms, you can see the entire city spread out below: the red rooftops of the Old Town, the Mtkvari (Kura) River, historic churches, and modern bridges. The view becomes especially magical at sunset when the city lights begin to glow. We were even lucky enough to watch the Georgian Independence Day fireworks directly from our room.
The location is perfect for exploring Tbilisi. The famous sulfur baths, botanical garden, waterfall, charming restaurants, and the atmospheric streets of Abanotubani are all within a 5–7 minute walk. Freedom Square can be reached in about 20 minutes on foot. Despite being so close to everything, the hotel feels more like a historic Tbilisi home with character than a typical city hotel.
With only about 20 rooms, the property is peaceful and intimate. We stayed on the top floor under the roof and found it exceptionally quiet and comfortable. We especially appreciated the combination of historical charm and modern amenities. The hotel even features a small museum area on the ground floor, where part of an ancient wall has been preserved.
The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was varied and delicious, and the dining area, decorated with vintage Soviet-era items, added a unique touch to the experience.
The only thing future guests should keep in mind is that reaching the hotel requires climbing a number of steps. For most travelers this will not be an issue, but guests with mobility limitations or joint problems may want to take this into consideration.
If you're looking for a central place to stay with a lot of character to a reasonable price - this is the hotel for you! It's located in the old town and you'll have an amazing view of the city from the terrace which is open for all guests to use. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast has a wide selection of freshly cut Georgian delicacies and really good coffee made on demand.
Only one of the rooms had a safety box - but it didn't work. Good to know if you need to leave valuble stuff in your room.

I didn’t like the breakfast at all. The breakfast menu and facilities need to be improved. The boiled eggs were cold, and the bakery selection was very limited. I would rate the breakfast 5/10.
I’m not sure whether this is a common issue in the area or specific to this hotel, but there was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom, which made the stay less comfortable.
Tolle Lage, man ist in wenigen Gehminuten im Zentrum. Tolle Aussicht von der Dachterrasse. Das Frühstücksbuffet lässt keinerlei Wünsche offen. Freundliches Personal.
