Breakfast and the exterior building was beautiful
The dated bedroom furniture
I needed somewhere quiet and safe to stay on a short work trip, because I knew I'd need a very late check in after a long drive and I'm an older woman travelling alone. Hinsley Hall was quiet, safe, with 24 hour check in and a private car park in its own grounds. As it's in the student area of Leeds, there are lots of great restaurants a short walk away, which was great for the second evening of my stay. As other reviews have said, it's not a luxury hotel - it's very like student accommodation, which I didn't mind at all - and the room was very simple, but it was comfortable and clean and the water was very hot. Given it's a Catholic conference centre, obviously the public areas reflect this in the decor, but it's an interesting place to stay because of its history. All the staff were lovely and helpful. I asked for a room with a bath rather than a shower and got it, and I asked for gluten free bread and it was toasted for me by the staff on a separate grill without me even having to ask. That has rarely happened to me in 20 years of asking for gluten free bread in hotels that cost far more!

No kettle/ tea making facilities in the room. There is a kitchen somewhere but too tired to find it by the time we arrived. Not the Halls fault.
This is not really a hotel. It is a Catholic conference centre with bed and breakfast facilities for travellers. I find the atmosphere much better than a hotel. Physically, everything is simple, unfussy and well looked after. The breakfasts are particularly good.
There are no evening meals but there is a large Weatherspoons directly opposite.

The photos did not do Hinsley Hall justice, it was absolutely stunning and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The room was clean and tidy, and breakfast was great with lots of options.

Alles voelt wat gedateerd en toe aan vervanging. Hygiëne was niet top. We hadden handdoeken met vlekken erop. Daarnaast was het personeel niet echt vriendelijk en gastvrij.
