It’s was the heat of summer. No air conditioning. Although fan was provided, the absence of air conditioning made things uncomfortable.
The staff didn’t have information about the ev chargers.

Everything was perfect

🧹 ❌ Cleanliness Was Unacceptable

• Sofa was dirty & covered in hairs

• Floors were not properly cleaned

• Used wine glasses left inside kitchen cupboard — clearly not washed or checked

• Standard of cleaning did not match the price or expected standard

🎉 ❌ Special Request Ignored

• Anniversary decorations were acknowledged in advance but never done

• No apology or explanation given — completely ignored

🍽️ ❌ Food & Restaurant Service

• Food tasted nice but portions were too small

• Waitress poured water over our table → never came back to clean it up or apologise

• Breakfast staff behaviour: stared constantly, unfriendly, offered extra drinks to white guests but not us — made us feel singled out, uncomfortable & unfairly treated

💡 ❌ Maintenance — Multiple Failures & Blame-Shifting

• Bedroom light stopped working on night 2

• Staff immediately accused us of causing the fault — no check first, just blame

• Said they’d update us → never came back

• Second staff member also accused us — claimed we put something in the plugs

• Fixed briefly → failed again after 1 hour

• Messaged repeatedly → waited over an hour with no reply

• No temporary light ever offered — forced to pack & get ready in dim light

• Fan affected too → room was hot & uncomfortable all night

• At checkout: staff who offered help earlier never even asked if it was fixed — zero care or follow-up

😔 ❌ Overall Experience

• Went to celebrate & relax for our anniversary

• Left feeling stressed, upset & unvalued

• Beautiful location — but service, cleanliness & attitude ruined the stay

• Felt we were blamed for problems we didn’t cause and treated unfairly

1. Our room was very hot. When we opened our room door it was obvious that the plug-in air conditioning unit / fan was generating hot air rather than cold air. This was changed for a traditional large oscillating fan by a member of staff. This helped a little but a notice advised not to open our veranda door overnight so as not to let insects into the room. This meant for hot nights as our room temperature was much higher than that outside.
2. Poached eggs were not available because it "was too hot". On further investigation it was said the "whites" of the free range chickens eggs were affected by the heat & the eggs wouldn't poach properly. I think this usually happens because the eggs aren't fresh enough not because of the heat. The chef could have found a solution such as straining the whites of the excess liquid or purchased different eggs.
3. The bathroom had a shower over the bath. The bath was quite deep which wasn't that easy to get in & out of. Someone less agile would certainly have a problem. A grab rail should be fitted on the wall next to the bath. In addition, the glass shower screen wasn't sealed correctly thus water leaking onto the floor.
4. Some discrete fly killing devices are required in the restaurant. Flies in the restaurant @ breakfast & dinner. Breakfast choice was a cooked breakfast &/or a buffet. Whilst the cereals / jams & bread were under cover, all other breakfast items were in uncovered bowls. Flies constantly flying around & on the food.
5. No TV's in the lodges. Whilst this didn't affect us it was only apparent this was the case after booking. We received a booking confirmation which then stated TV's are not provided.
6. I found our bed too firm but I appreciate everyone is different.

Room was very hot. They supplied another fan which was covered in dust (blowing dust out)

No check-in before 3 pm. I completely understand housekeeping have to get round but it’s not a lodge hotel, and a chance for some wiggle room on an earlier check-in would be really appreciated. The advertised gym apparently has now shut so this information needs to be updated.

The room got very hot from the heatwave

The room was nice but no air conditioning, the breakfast was very basic and maybe some savory option would have been nice. Only fruits and some cereals.

What a brilliant place staff was amazing everything 10/10
