Great hotel, with everything you in need in a traditional Japanese stay
Pros:

The space is absolutely beautiful. The room was very well equipped and quite a nice space for us and our luggage. Absolutely loved the staff, they were super helpful.

Cons:

The location is ok. It’s in a more residential area, not really close to any shops/restaurants - besides a convenience store up the street. It’s a 6 minute walk to catch a bus or 12 minutes to the closest station. That gets a bit tiring after a long day of traveling.

Cons:

Charging 500 yen per bag to transport your own luggage from the checkin desk near Kyoto JR station to the Machiya. (The first 2 bags are free). You cannot send the luggage directly to the Machiya from Yamato Transport service, you have to send it to the Check-in counter only.
The Wifi was unreachable in our entire room, we were shocked how no one had complained about it until now. They sent us a pocket wifi but it was very slow and very unreliable in terms of Coverage.

Pros:

Staff were amazing, very friendly. Very quiet area with a walk to the station but felt safe any time in the day.

Cons:

Building is old so we did notice some noisy upstairs neighbours at one point

Pros:

Jolie MACHIYA. Chambre avec café, thé nécessaire de toilette, yukata, fer à repasser dans la chambre, utilisation gratuite de la machine à laver sechante.... Dans un quartier résidentiel un peu à l'écart. Très joli café à 1 mn de là. A environ 15 mn de marche de points d'intérêt mais 5mn du métro.

Cons:

Aucun personnel sur place donc expérience impersonnelle de fait..Pas de lampe de chevet pour lire.
