Location is great and beds are comfortable
Was under major construction and parking fees are extra and too expensive.
The location is great for activities in the Byward Market area.
The rooms with 2 beds only have double beds, very small. The rooms are small and very dated. The pool is laughable, very small and the chaise lounge cushions are all stained. The payment system is outdated and inconvenient. However they charge upscale market prices but don’t deliver on the “upscale” part. This used to be a classy hotel back in the day but they have failed to stay current.
Personal amable
I liked the room view and hotel location.
This was not what I expected in terms of Westin level. At the begining, the room smell was not nice despite that I told them it is my honeymoon. They changed the room, but the couch in the other room was not clean and the furniture was not good.
I stayed at the Westin Hotel June 4-7 2026. On the last night, there was flood in my room related to the renovations going on floors above. I had to move rooms in the middle of the night (5am) which was very disruptive. In addition, the front desk noted that many people had to move due to this flood, and there was water dripping into buckets around the conference I was attending on the 4th floor. After all this, the hotel was unwilling to fully compensate for that night, which should have been a given (hotel first offered only guest points as compensation, and ultimately after much discussion gave only partial compensation). I don't recommend staying here, particularly while this renovation is going on, and very poor management response to a major disruption.
Close to Rogers Centre.
Ruffled carpet in halls, old bath tubs, old mattresses, noisy ice machines and they wanted to charge me $100 for early checkout on top of my rate. Terrible!
Location location location. Breakfast was plentiful and mouthwatering
Nothing really
The view of Parliament was awesome, and the location can't be beat. Having such close proximity to the Rideau Center made shopping very convenient, and we were able to avoid the strong winds and rain of Canada Day. In addition the bed was very comfortable, clean, the sheets crisp, the room quite large, and the bathroom was well equipped.
it was all acceptable, but the price was quite high. Also, since we had a king bed, I would have expected two sets of slippers and bathrobes, and more coffee/tea. cream supplies. I did ask for them, and they were promptly provided.
Can’t beat the location. The fact you can get to the mall without going outside is great. Can walk to a lot of main sites. The staff were amazing especially the check in experience. They allowed us early check in and we had an incredible room for my family with a corner amazing view. We could see the canal, fairmont and parliament and there was tons of space for my son’s cot. The room needs a bit of a refresh. It’s showing some wear and tear and some molding In the shower. The pool too could use some tlc. but other than that the bed was so comfortable and we had a great experience. We would stay here again.
Poorly maintained. Desperately needing a cleanup and facelift. Rooms and hallways were not very clean. Old sheets with rips and visible dirt and stains on chairs in room. “Funky” BO type smell in our room. Asked for room to be “freshened” but the treatment only lasted a few hours. It was like a team of hockey players had used the room as a workout and locker room. Drapes don’t easily open and close. Elevator system is annoyingly slow. Adjacent to mall is a plus. Nice staff. Great location in Ottawa. Would not at all recommend this unless it had a major restoration. Not good representation of the brand
Breakfast could have been included in the rate
Stayed at the hotel, while the staff was friendly, the noise of construction on the 18th floor was very loud. Machinery, music, singing and noise at 730 am. My elderly family member struggles to sleep and this was out of control. Spoke to staff but was not taken seriously.
I love staying at a Westin property for the heavenly beds and the white tea bathroom products. The Westin Ottawa has the best location if you are wanting to be in the heart of downtown Ottawa to experience the parliament building, the canal, the market, and Rideau mall (which is attached to the hotel).
I received a message from the concierge desk prior to arrival with suggested things to do and checking in online. I requested an early checkin as we had evening plans to celebrate a special milestone. Of course they cannot guarantee early checkin but I was told they would make note of it.
Not only was my early checkin honoured, but they sent up a nice “treat” for us to celebrate with a handwritten note. Classy. Our view in the room was outstanding looking at the canal and parliament building. AC was amazing - we like a cold room and boy did it get nice and cold. Slept amazing.
We enjoyed the buffet breakfast which was delicious sitting at a table overlooking the canal and also had incredible service.
We are Marriott bonvoy members and I highly recommend you join (free) before you go. This gets you free wifi and you start collecting points for free nights. Enhance your Marriott points by getting a Marriott credit card to use for extra points!
The Westin Ottawa is a great choice for your downtown Ottawa stay. For sure the rooms are ready for a modern facelift and we were told they were doing stuff on the top floor so maybe it is coming? I look forward to returning.
Not much.
-The property is under construction but they don’t tell anyone about that when you book.
- The noise from the construction/renovations are loud and go on from 7:30am to 6:00 or 7:00pm. - - - You can hear loud noises and vibrations from the renovations clearly in your room. There is constant drilling and hammering.
- The hotel is horribly rundown.
- The breakfast buffet is poor.
- We told our hotel our room door needed repair on the door lock which we told them about every day for 4 days. Nothing was done. It was a huge security problem.
- The construction above us cut the TV cable on our last day and they couldn’t repair it. We had no TV.
- The toilet flush is so loud, it’s like a huge loud vacuum sucks the water down with great force, like
on an airplane.
- The response from management of our noise and other concerns was feeble at best.
- The front desk was no help whatsoever when we told them of our concerns.
- We did tell the Rooms Controller via email about the noise and door. He said to move rooms. By moving rooms it didn’t guarantee we’d be noise-free. And, the door only needed someone with a drill or screwdriver.
- When you exit the hotel you have to pass homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk, people on drugs, people using the sidewalk as a bathroom, and there were some that were acting wild and erratically.
- The hotel only has a breakfast restaurant open until 10:30am. Then you have no place to go eat lunch or supper in the hotel.
- It is certainly overpriced for what you get, especially with the renovations and construction.
