Honestly one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had in Singapore. We specifically booked this hotel because we wanted a comfortable stay with privacy and a nice city view, ideally facing Marina Bay Sands. Instead, we were given a room facing directly onto the pool area, despite this never being clearly stated anywhere in the booking. The pool is on the 8th floor and our room was on the 9th, meaning absolutely everyone around the pool could see directly into our room. There was zero privacy. People could see us while walking around the room, sitting, and even lying on the bed. It honestly felt like being in a glass box facing a public area.
The moment we entered the room, we immediately went back downstairs to request a change because the situation was unacceptable. The staff member at reception spoke very poor English, making communication extremely difficult. She kept trying to explain that we could pay even more money just to move “slightly higher,” even though we had already paid a very expensive rate for this supposedly “larger” room category.
Later, the manager told us there actually was a room with a Marina Bay Sands view available, but apparently they “couldn’t” move us there because it was technically a cheaper category since we booked through Bookingcom. The explanation made absolutely no sense. We were even told something along the lines of: “If we move you there, you might later trick us and complain.” Completely unprofessional and insulting.
The situation became even more ridiculous because we were told another room would be ready for us at 3 PM. We left the hotel for half the day specifically to give them time to prepare it. When we came back around 7 PM, exhausted, we discovered that the receptionist had actually meant 3 PM the NEXT DAY because of her poor English communication. Nobody clarified this properly. We were basically expected to stay in that awful room for almost the entire trip anyway, despite us flying out on the 16th.
