The location
The room
This hotel is HUGE--it takes up seemingly a whole city block! Given that, its entrance is unprepossessing--on the street level and you have to go up to get to reception. The signage is in English and Arabic, so that tells you what clientele to expect. Lots of business travelers, and the reception desk is efficient but the waiting area is small. Inside it's clean and modern, but you may have to walk a literal block to get to your room. It had the best tea service setup I saw in a room. Your view could be anything from a bustling city street to a brick wall. We were only there one night so everything was perfectly adequate, and breakfast was great, including made-to-order omelettes.
The hotel is strategically located for exploring all parts of London, right next to a tube station and several bus lines. The rooms are quite large and quiet, although the beds aren't very comfortable. The continental breakfast offers plenty of choices. If you go during weekends or holiday days after 8:30, you'll have to queue for a table; on other days, it's fine. The elevators need a software upgrade: they often skip the designated floor and it took a while to get one.
The location is very good. Close to Hyde park and Oxford street.
I stayed at The Thistle in 2025 and had a truly excellent experience. This time, though, the staff seemed less attentive. The luggage drop‑off was rather chaotic, and at breakfast we were somewhat overlooked.Parul was the clear exception — she was fantastic: helpful, friendly, and very professional.

Just the location
The hotel is so crowded. I couldn’t sleep due to the noise. Noise from the other rooms, people walking outside the room and its sound like they r next to me. The housekeeping cleaning in front of the room and by the vacuum machine they knocking the door four times during my 9 night stays.
There is no one will answer the calls when you call the operator or the reception. They trolly which I requested took more than 25 minutes then I curried all the suitcases myself because I don’t want to miss my flight.
The breakfast didn’t worth it. The stuff some of them don’t understand English
It wasn’t nice stay for me
The location and the cleanliness was good
The staff were terrible. Very slow. Check in was the worst experience. The lady who checked me in said our room wouldn't be ready until 2pm when it was 1pm. I paid. I waited. Came back at 2, still not ready. Came back at 3pm and the lady who checked me in didnt speak to me once. Didnt provide any customer service. She was training another girl at the same podium. Then the lady walked off without saying why. The lady who was being trained just stood there in silence and didnt apologise who make me feel okay in any way. The lady checking me in left for about 10 minutes. Nobody said why. It was infuriating. Then when she came back she still did not apologise. She carried on typing on her computer then gave us the keys. Shocking. The worst customer service.
