Lovely authentic stay in a Buddhist temple.

Cons:

Not many amenities or service, and not terribly helpful when a member of our party was injured. This is a temple, not a hotel. More like a hostel

Una experiencia insuperable en Japón
Pros:

El alojamiento es increíblemente espectacular, deja sin palabras. Nuestra habitación era preciosas y además tenía baño privado. El checkin es precioso, te explican todos los espacios del templo. Y el rezo de la mañana es una experiencia inolvidable. Todo ello es un lugar de ensueño.

Cons:

Que el agua de la ducha salía fría sin dar tiempo a una ducha normal.

Pros:

We waren met 5 mensen en hadden de nieuwe kamer. Met drie comfortabele futonbedden en twee “normale” bedden. Hele fijne kamer, alles nieuw. Super vriendelijk personeel. Uitgebreid alles uitgelegd. De ochtend meegedaan met ochtend ritueel in het klooster. Alles werd mooi en uitgebreid uitgelegd. Mooie ervaring. En 10 minuten lopen van het oude Takayama. Erg mooi

Naprostá spokojenost

Naprostá spokojenost, personál velice ochotný (Děkujeme Fumiko-san). Škoda, ze nemám japonskou velikost (192 cm) ;-)
Ranní modllitba byl úžasný zážitek, který dobře připravili i pro lidi bez zkušeností s budhismem.
Prostory byly nádherné.

A truly unique, calm, senene experience that I would love to go back

We had an amazing experience, I must say unique, the room is so big for us, surrounded by beautiful garden which make you feel like you wake up in nature. It's within a temple so you inherit calm, serene feelings.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre logement, mais surtout l'expérience qui nous a été offerte. Nous ignorons presque tout au sujet du bouddhisme, et ce fut une magnifique découverte. Le personnel et l'équipement de ce lieu étaient au top.

Pros:

Garden view in the family room, clean, comfortable (tatami and futon on the ground which we find comfortable but if you don’t you might feel differently.) Morning service with the monk was educational and very interesting. I had read reviews where he was out of town for some people’s stays but fortunately he was here for ours. Plenty of room in the family room for our family of 4 (2 adults 2 teens). This room had a private bathroom but I believe the other rooms do not so keep that in mind. Overall a good stay.

Cons:

The location felt more urban than I was expecting. During the morning service you could hear cars whizzing by which detached from the experience. We did not participate in any of the paid activities but I would have been disappointed if I had paid for the meditation experience as it was in the temple and would have been noisy. Keep in mind there are no couches or anything in the room, ours had one wicker lounge chair so be prepared if you’re hoping for somewhere to lounge about while in the room other than the floor. I also think it might have been a bit overpriced (compared to other Japanese hotel prices) but I felt it was worth it for one night for the temple experience.

A very memorable experience with pretty rooms and gardens. If you stay participate in services and meditation otherwise

Enjoyed our stay - a very unique experience. Services and meditation were interesting and thought provoking. Nice bathrooms and laundry facility connected to room.

Cons:

Could have used some more electronic outlets and perhaps some free tea or coffee - the machine was not easy to use and cost money, and the fee to stay was already high.
