The Norwegian America Line’s venerable headquarters opened their doors in 1919. With an old building comes responsibility with maintenance and rehabilitation, that is why we are now doing rehabilitation on our roof and facade. The rehabilitation will continue until July 2023, and there might be some noise during the daytime. All outlets and services are still open as normal. We apologize for any inconveniences.

Quality, comfort
The street noise from trams. Looking for a quiet room without success.
good location, close to train and trams. 5 min walk to harbor as well as shopping district. Room was great and big. Gym was good for a basic workout and the sauna was big. Breakfast was excellent and the bar was a nice spot for a drink.
Nothing.
Beautiful property and location. Breakfast is top class.
This hotel was quite nice but not exceptional. It’s within an easy 20 min walk to many major sights(Munch museum, akershus, etc). It is right across from train station. There are numerous restaurants nearby. Breakfast buffet was nicely done. Beds were pretty comfortable. Room size was fine. Room was a bit warm with inadequate cooling options. Property looks a little tired. We were overall satisfied with our stay but felt property didn’t quite live up to price charged
What a beautiful hotel. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are amazing, the breakfast is delicious and it’s convenient to everything. We were able to walk to the train station, bus station, the Opera house, great restaurants. Awesome shopping and close to the hop on hop off bus. It was very clean and safe. We lived the hotel and definitely where it was located,
Location, Location, Location.
Central Location
Was very easy to walk to most sites
Food good
Can very easily walk to Train Station.
Staff at front dest were very friendly and helpful
Taxi service right outside the front door
Would stay here again
We stayed here for a few days and th location is great. Next to the train station and easy walking distance everywhere. The staff at check were efficient and friendly. The rooms as a little small but very comfortable and stylish.
This was a great hotel and a fantastic base for exploring Oslo. Having never been to Norway before and having only two days to explore Oslo, I booked through Amex really without much information on the hotel itself other than that the photos looked nice and the reviews were good. After staying, here are the highlights:
1) Location - it’s next to the central train station and a major public transport hub, so getting around is super easy. Unlike other train station neighborhoods across Europe, it didn’t seem that there were any seedy or unsavory elements in this area. And Oslo is quite walkable too - from here, it’s easy to walk to the opera house area or the royal palace, and pretty much anywhere else.
2) Rooms - small, but I understand that that’s the expectation in Norway as the cultural expectation is that rooms are for sleeping and the rest of the hotel is for living. They are well-appointed though, and the room I stayed in was themed with decor from the history of the Norwegian-America line, for which the hotel is named, whose headquarters was originally in this building.
3) Dining - I only dined for breakfast, but the buffet was large with a lot of choices, and there was a cooked to order menu as well. The food was tasty.
4) Hotel bar - This was, without a doubt, the highlight of the experience. The cocktail menu contains a fictionalized account of a captain’s view of an old ship voyage from Norway to the USA, with drinks themed for each entry, and the inventive selections mean that the bar has earned a reputation for being one of the best in Norway (a local came in while I was there and actually relayed that info to me). Additionally, Chris and the bar staff are happy to answer questions about the drinks and engage in conversations about things to do, places to eat, how Norwegian society works, etc. Without them, I would have merely had a great time in Oslo; with the conversations we had, I came away with a much deeper understanding of the city, the country, and the culture.
My wife and I arrived here yesterday for a last minute 4 night trip. We’ve been here one night so far with 3 more to go . To say we are disappointed is an understatement. When we booked we weren’t told of the large construction project going on next door …we were woken up this morning with huge ‘drilling’ ? …this has happened again this afternoon when we returned from a day out and tried to have a nap. The room is tiny …no room even for a chest of drawers to put clothes. We have a king sized bed in the room but the duvet doesn’t even cover the mattress so my wife and I had a comical night last night of pulling the little duvet from each other …we’ve asked and they’ve supplied two single duets as they’ve said the one we had was the largest …what a joke! On the plus side every single member of staff we’ve met have been very helpful and friendly. I also tried to use the sauna steam room area this afternoon but was at a loss …no staff about so no idea about protocol etc …had to go to reception to be told …change in your hotel room and go down to sauna etc …no changing room in sauna/steam room and no advance warning of protocol …all in all we aren’t looking to our next 3 nights here …I messaged the hotel about 2 hours ago and have yet to receive a response
I have many positive things to say about this hotel. First and foremost, I would highlight its location: it is right in the city center, making it very easy to access any form of transportation and get around the city.
As for the rooms, I can honestly say they were my favorite of all the hotels I stayed at during my trip around Scandinavia. They are comfortable, modern, and have an excellent layout. Without a doubt, this was one of the aspects I enjoyed most about my stay.
The atmosphere is fantastic and very lively. The girls at the front desk are amazing, and they are always willing to help and make their guests feel welcome.
As for breakfast, wow—absolutely amazing! Everything was excellent, from the coffee to the variety of food. It was an exceptional way to start the day.
I honestly can’t point out anything negative about this place. The only bad thing was that I didn’t stay for more than three days! I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Perfect location on the central square. Everything was walkable. The staff was great. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Their restaurant was also nice for dinner or a beer, and they were close to other nice, affordable restaurants. The room was good: a comfortable bed, good lighting, and a comfortable chair plus a desk and chair. Nice bathroom.
Couple of high marble stairs to haul the heavy suitcase up to get to the elevator, but really, this was a great hotel and we would defintely stay here again.
We had a great stay! The staff are very friendly, responsive and accommodating. Breakfast was great - a nice variety of foods. The omelettes are delicious. The rooms, although a bit small, are clean and well appointed. We left our passports in the room safe and Maura and her staff found a creative solution to get them returned to us in Bergen. We are very appreciative! We would highly recommend!
Localisation très pratique (juste en face de la gare, et au bout de la rue principale desservant la cathédrale et allant jusqu’au palais)
Tout est beau même tableaux accrochés dans l’hôtel
Les gens sont gentils
Accueillants, patients
Les chambres sont magnifiques
Les salles de bain dingues !
