Good hotel overall. Club lounge still needs some tweaks to restore wow factor.
Pros:

As my preferred hotel for regular trips to Brisbane, I do enjoy staying here. All of the positives noted from my previous review still apply - fantastic staff in the main, amazing location, room quality, recognition of Accor loyalty status etc. I will be back but will consider other options if the below concerns continue.

Unfortunately, as I noted in also in my last review, the Club lounge is still not meeting the general standard for such premium lounges in top end hotels. This one has gone from one of the best in Australia to one of the most disappointing. I have no issue with the new location downstairs like some other reviewers, and find it quite pleasant looking down on to ANZAC Square. My concerns remain with the food quality which is clearly a cost cutting measure that continues to come across as miserly. On this last stay, there were no longer bite sized sandwiches provided for afternoon tea. There was a limited selected of sweet bites (also lesser quality and quantity than previously), and bowls of whole fruits, however it is remiss not to have something savoury on offer. The evening canapes also remain limited with the cold selection rather unappealing, especially now during winter, and ordinary by comparable standards found in other hotels with Club lounges. Very small serves, brought once only, of the two hot pieces were also underwhelming. I'm not expecting Michelin star dining for this, but am just looking for something that better reflects premium hotel experience, reasonable quality/variety of food, especially hot/savoury items and something that is up with the best industry standards for five star hotels. The staff in the lounge could be more attentive to guest needs, as we had to wait more than 20 minutes after asking more than once, for the tea bags to be topped up - and this was at the opening time for afternoon tea. I made some suggestions in my last review which should still be considered by management. They were:

- for the evening canapes cold food, a few more simple selections would make this great (such as some crusty bread and butter, stuffed mini capsicums, boiled eggs cut in half etc.). These are just examples of easy options that wouldn’t blow out the budget.
-With the new location set up spread out across the length of this new space – it is a long room, with drinks placed about half way down one side, an orientation explanation from staff would be useful when first arriving in the lounge. I noticed lots of first time guests don't seem to know what to do or where to go in there and are left to flounder looking for what is there and where they can go.
-I suggest the management consider what is on offer for hot canapes in the lounge as this is currently not meeting the standard that is found in good top end hotels with such lounges around Australia and internationally and comes across as somewhat miserly. There is still a rule of one canape plate per guest per night which is also not in keeping with what other such lounges offer. Wouldn't it be easier to just have a small hot buffet of three options of hot bites that is replenished throughout the evening? That is one way of doing it I’ve seen elsewhere and it works really well – eg. Sofitel Melbourne on Collins.

The Club lounge here has lost something and a few simple tweaks like those in my suggestions would help restore the wow factor which is what it should project to guests. I do love this hotel and it has been disheartening to see this side of things change. I don't want to consider other hotel options so we will see. My feedback is not unique to me after reading other reviews here so come on guys have another look at things.

The best place to stay in Brisbane
Pros:

The Sofitel Brisbane Central is fantastic if you are looking for an easy access location to base your Brisbane stay. The staff are incredible and make sure you don't want for anything. The Sofitel is located directly above Central Station. You can catch the AirTrain directly to the basement. Two escalators up and you are in the lobby. The shuttle bus for the Gabba is also just outside the station. A 20-minute train ride to Zilmere Parkrun. Everything about the Sofitel is top shelf, which is why I keep coming back. Highly recommended

Fairly average
Cons:

Breakfast selection and food selection at the lounge was very limited. Room was dated. Stained sofa and carpet. For a signature suite we expected a much higher standard. Staff needed reminder for clearing rubbish and cleaning dishes.

Good Option
Pros:

The room was good. Facilities were pretty OK. If you are travelling for work and want convenience to train station and CBD, its a great place to stay. However, if you are on Staycation, in that case, I am sure there would be better choices available.

Cons:

The room was pretty old with old facilities. Room can definitely use an upgrade. City view was pretty much OK. Bed was very comfortable. Aircon was noisy but was doing the job.

Only stayed as we had a function there
Pros:

Staff were very friendly

Cons:

Shower had no pressure, very expensive to stay, tv had free to air only, room rate was fine but to park your car the expense is ridiculous. Very little lighting in the room also

fine
Pros:

all ok, except as follows

Cons:

TV wasn't working properly; no plug in the bathroom basin, the coffee machine needs calibrating for water quantity. I think it was never done, and the toilet soft closing lid needs adjustment or replacement

Clean confortable and central
Pros:

Stayed 2 nights. We are Gold & Accor Plus members and felt a little disheartened as we were not acknowledged at check-in. No welcome gift and had to get our bill revised at checkout.
Hotel was ideally located for access from the airport using the airtrain. Easy walk to town centre and the riverboats. Room was tidy and cleaned daily.
