My granddaughter and I visited this hotel. It was very central to everything we wanted to do. The beds were comfy. The water was hot.It was clean. Breakfast was OK. It’s a hotel continental breakfast. But if you don’t like hotel Continental there’s plenty of coffee shops just veryclose nearby. The setting for breakfast was very nice! The staff that work here are very friendly and helpful.
Stayed here for a wedding and from the moment I walked in I thought I may have walked into the wrong motel. The entire place is an absolute dump of a motel (because that’s what it is). I stayed here with family and we rented 5 different rooms for 5 days and 4 nights. It was 400$ per night. You would assume that at that price you would receive some sort of premium or quality experience. Don’t get your hopes up. From parking that is 35$ per day that is not commentary - to AC that does not work - to waking up to the awful smell of their putrid breakfast because it seeps through every floor - to the service desk representatives - having to move rooms at 1am - not one time did we get room service in 4 nights - it was overall an absolute awful experience - they reached out after I left a poor review and offered a whopping 60$ back as an apology for the awful awful experience I had. They are a joke of a business and should anyone come stay in La Jolla you will be far better off staying at a holiday inn or motel 6 than staying here. Save ur money and don’t spend 400$ per night for a dump of a motel such as this place.
Awful hotel - I had to change rooms because the original rooms ac didn’t work but the new rooms ac didn’t work either so they offered me a fan which was sorta a slap in the face for a hotel that you are paying 400$ a night for - the entire hotel is run down and not near worth 400$ per night - parking is also an extra 30-50$ per day which isn’t included with that 400$ per night fee - offered nothing to make it right - poor excuse for a hotel - do better for your customers
Comfortable beds, good location
They gave keys to our room to another guest who came into our room at night. Needless to say, it was very disturbing and left us unsettled. Staff referred the issue to management who refuses to answer calls or return messages from us personally or from Booking.com. Unacceptable!
every thing was good
We originally had a room in another hotel. We had a problem with the room and had to find a new place to stay. The manager placed us at the Empress. We are so grateful! Our room was beautiful, comfortable and quiet. Nice bathroom too. Close to everything in La Jolla. The best part was the front desk manager. She was AWESOME! We had a rough day (lost luggage, massive traffic, changing hotels, etc.), and she went out of her way to make sure our stay was special. We will definitely be back!
This is a nice hotel with good walkability. Lots of nice shops and restaurants within walking distance. The staff was excellent. The in-house restaurant was very good. Decent complimentary breakfast.
Location and the room was very comfortable
1)The “fitness center” is pathetic. Only 2 pieces of cardio equipment and a small weight rack. The room is empty except for the equipment; no TVs, exercise balls, stretch mats, or updated equipment.
2). The parking is TERRIBLE! No less than 4 other guests tried to use their phone QR codes to get into the garage with no luck. I had to get out of our car just to get the “perfect” angle to get the gate to open. That garage gets a fail!
I grew up in La Jolla and know the town like the back of my hand. I'd previously avoided this hotel while visiting family...sensing that it had probably seen better days. That was indeed confirmed on my 2 night visit this week. Only 1 of 2 elevators was working the whole time. The a/c in my room didn't work at all. In the room I then switched to it just barely worked...but it wasnt work moving onto a 3rd room. The windows were dirty. The staff at the front desk seemed like they really didn't want to be there....when they were there. Out of sight 80% of the time. The flags hanging off the front of the hotel were ratty and wrapped around their poles. It really seemed like management didn't care. On the other hand the dark jazz club in the lobby was busy every night.
quemel hotel NO tiene estacionamiento y hay que pagar una cuota diaria extra, eso debe venir anunciado antes de hacer la reservacion fue una mala sorpresa y es increible que un hotel con ese costo diario no tenga estacionamiento incluido
Fabulous location. Extremely friendly staff. Very quick to get us checked in.
