Sad, tired, and grimy
Pros:

Again, let me say that I am not convinced that reviews actually affect change. When someone brings up a troubling aspect of their stay, the manager apologizes in a form letter and that's pretty much it. But for the sake of other travelers, here's a glimpse of my experience at the Doubletree by Hilton at Park Place in St Louis Park, Minnesota. When I arrived by car, I found detritus all over the parking lot: from empty plastic liquor bottles, to clothing, to sacks from fast food joints. What a welcome! Let me say that Marcus at reception was a bright light as he could answer every question I had, was friendly, and was prompt in getting me a room. This was in contrast to a much younger receptionist who, surprisingly, could not answer half my questions. You'd think a receptionist would know if there is room service: yes? As I approached my room, I found used, yucky tissues on the floor and a hotel shampoo bottle outside the room's door on the floor. There was no liner for the ice bucket so I used an extra plastic bag of my own. The lamp shade was ripped and the water sprinkler rusted. I wondered if it would work. I was puzzled by the fact that though there is a restaurant - well really a pub - on site, its lights were so low that I couldn't tell if it was open. I had to walk in to see that someone was sitting at a table and that there was a bartender/waiter. But if you read about the "restaurant" online you'd think you were walking into a high end establishment. Well, not the case. If a manager or owner cannot take care of their parking space and pick up the detritus in the hallway, one begins to wonder how clean the swimming pool actually is. Perhaps he owners of the hotel simply view it as a revenue stream and don't care much about its upkeep - because, as others have noted, this is a tired establishment in need of a major overhaul.

Pros:

liked location, though road work made it hard to reach. would have liked fridge in all rooms (last time no fridge; this time, there was a fridge). Would have liked functioning ice machine on all floors. Would have liked good coffee in lobby on weekends, too.

Nice real plants and palm trees and breakfast was good

Cons:

The pool and hot tub looked gross and underneath the bed was dirty and the bathroom toilet had urine on the seat and the fridge did not work.
