BED BUG ALERT!
I just stayed here for four nights while I was on vacation, and I was pretty disappointed to say the least. While the rates are reasonable and the location is convenient, I found this hotel to be very unsatisfactory and would not stay here again.
For starters, the hotel itself is very worn and dirty. There are no balconies and no windows to open in the rooms, and our bathroom smelled musty the entire visit. The water pressure in the shower was terrible.
On the second afternoon of our visit we decided to order room service while we were relaxing after exploring the French Quarter. We ordered chicken wings and fries. After waiting over an hour, we called and asked when we could expect our food to arrive. It arrived a few minutes later and the wings were completely cold. (They did remove the charge for the wings after the bed bug incident.)
During three of the days we stayed there, as of 4pm our room had not been cleaned yet. We went out for an entire day of activities only to return and find our room wasn't serviced yet. And nothing against the cleaning ladies, I just don't think they have enough of them staffed to service the rooms in a timely manner.
While the lobby and bar are fairly nice to relax in, the food was surprisingly sub par, especially considering all the amazing food nearby. It's frustrating that you cannot bring outside food to enjoy in the lobby, even if you are buying drinks from their bar.
Last but not least, we found a bed bug! We were getting ready to go to bed one night, and an odd looking bug was in our bed when we pulled the sheets back. I took video of the bug, and when I compared it to google images of bed bugs, they were identical. This was very upsetting.
They did switch our room quickly, and offered to heat treat our luggage to ensure we wouldn't bring any bed bugs home with us. However, during my conversation with the manager about the bed bug incident I was told that the Sheraton would perform an "investigation" and that they would follow up by calling me with the results. They did not want to review my video of the bug, and three days later I still have not received a follow up call regarding their bed bug "investigation".
I would not stay here again nor would I suggest this hotel to anyone.
