Excellent location and front desk staff very helpful at check-in for early check in.
There was a constant smell of deodorizer. perhaps owing to mold in the room. There were traces of mold in the closet and I took pictures of the mold stains in the room.

Lo mejor del hotel es su personal. Es encantador, profesional y son el verdadero lujo del hotel.
Por donde empezar: El hotel está bastante viejo. No cumple los estandares de comfort y calidad de un 5 estrellas. Los baños de algunas habitaciones son extremadamente pequeños, hasta el punto de que las puertas de WC y entrada al baño, chocan las unas con las otras. En mi caso, viajaba con perro, y me hicieron hacer un upgrade a premium, pero la habitación era diminuta, no podíamos movernos y no pudimos usar la ducha porque perdía agua. Más allá de eso, a parte de unas camas, los perros sólo eran "admitidos" pero no podíamos ir a ningún sitio con ellos. Un desastre en un hotel que recibe el 80% de personas extranjeras con otro concepto más abierto de la tenencia de mascotas. En nuestro caso, mi marido y yo jamás pudimos ni desayunar juntos. Bastante desastre y una experiencia la mitad de agradable de lo que podría ser.

My new wife and I are traveling for our honeymoon. He started with a 15 day transatlantic cruise, then proceeded to Barcelona for a few days before coming to Madrid.
About a week before we arrived I got a very nice email asking about our preferences and if there is anything else about our trip that was special. I shared information about our honeymoon in the communication was just excellent.
The moment we pulled up in our cab filled with luggage we were treated like royalty. Couldn’t have to do a thing except go to the front desk and check in. I got an upgrade through my status and then I also was able to negotiate another upgrade on top of that to make it an even nicer room for us. This hotel has classic elegance and fulfills expectations for the intercontinental brand.
What’s more when we arrived at our room there was a bottle of cava, and we literally had tears in our eyes, looking at the beautiful cake they had for us that included a wedding picture of us on it! All courtesy of Ana Ortega who is the front office manager.

One thing that keeps me going back to the IHG group of hotels is the service which I really appreciate. The Intercontinental Madrid is no different. From start till end, no request is too tricky, and the team is going out of their way to support you in having a great stay, never too intrusive but always there when you need them. The location is in a lovely neighbourhood with a nice local upscale vibe, and it's a short 2-3min walk to the metro which gets you everywhere in the city. A definite recommend!

My wife and I spent five days in Madrid in mid-April 2026, staying at the InterContinental Hotel. Its location is simply ideal: a lovely neighborhood right in the city center — far enough removed from the tourist crowds, yet just a few minutes' walk from a metro station that offers quick and easy access to Madrid's main attractions. The building is in excellent condition; both its exterior and interiors are simply magnificent. We felt right at home from the very moment we stepped out of our taxi: the entire staff here is incredibly friendly and always ready to assist. We received a particularly warm welcome from the front desk team — Manager Ana and receptionists Angelina and Ouma. As IHG Platinum members, we received a complimentary room upgrade. Throughout our entire stay, Ana and Angelina went above and beyond to ensure our utmost comfort. Our room was clean and cozy. As previously noted, the entire staff — from porters and valets to receptionists, concierges, housekeepers, and servers — was highly attentive; however, in addition to Ana and Angelina, we would like to give a special mention to the Club Lounge staff — Deyanira Rojas, José Antonio Romero, and José Luis Villa — who provided us with an exceptional level of service. We are deeply grateful to the entire hotel staff for these five wonderful days and highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Madrid.
