Visited with my son who just finished 10th grade.
Loved the location of the hotel, the ambiance, and the executive lounge benefits which we looked forward to enjoying each day we finished exploring NYC together.
Disappointed the hotel is charging an amenity fee of $45/day, even if you book the room with points, which I’ve never seen before. Amenity fees ruined hotels in Las Vegas…don’t let it happen in NYC too.
Avoid this tourist trap!
Location is good (but most manhattan hotels are). Other than that I would avoid. Staff took two swipes from one card and one from another a check in. Took $400 from one and $1000 from the other as a pre authorization. Denied any liability for the $1000 transaction when i approached the extremely unhelpful staff. Eventually had it returned after raising with visa disputes team.
$45 per day amenity fee not mentioned when booking. This allows a $30 per day credit to spend in room or bar. As a taster a bottle of water is $10, a handful of candy is $10, and a soda can is $14. All plus tax, plus a $2.99 plus tax per day charge to refill the mini bar!
Breakfast ok but restaurant cannot cope so lengthy lines every day with up to 45 minute wait. We opted to get a take out one day to avoid this. Waiter will ask you to sign a bill even though breakfast included. This is just to charge you a hefty tip…for a buffet breakfast!
Rooms getting dated and zero sound proofing. Take some earplugs if you want some sleep. Poor attitude of reception staff was appalling and doesn’t meet with IHG core values.
The rooms are lovely
Located well
The manager was terrible
The staff forgot to tell me resort fee must be spent on day of arrival , it expires midnight
I told manager I was never told , he did not acknowledge that staff overlooked details and refused to credit back to me .
Very nice hotel centrally located nice size rooms atmosphere nice lobby nice size rooms and value for money
Two slightly negative comments we have to wait half an hour to get a table for breakfast this morning. It was be it was Memorial Day at least that was the excuse however the breakfast was a terrific breakfast once we got it. Secondly, we’ve been here a few times and I think that the furnishings in the lobby might need to be l updated the chairs and couches are looking a bit tired.
That was starting these two comments. I strongly recommend staying here is a very pleasant day.
There is a reason we keep coming back to the Intercontinental Barclay… the location is convenient, the rooms are incredibly clean and comfortable (and spacious compared to most hotels in NYC) and the staff always go above and beyond to make our stays a little more special. Also, they are dog friendly!
Our recent stay at the InterContinental New York Barclay was absolutely wonderful. While the hotel’s classic elegance and comfort immediately set a sophisticated tone, what truly made the experience exceptional was the outstanding staff.
The Reimagined Deluxe King room was incredibly comfortable, featuring excellent bedding that ensured a great night's rest. As Ambassador members, we were treated to an amazing buffet breakfast at the Parlour Restaurant, where every single dish we tasted was fresh and delicious.
What stood out most, however, was the service. Every staff member we interacted with was remarkably accommodating, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to elevating our experience. Exceptional hospitality like this is rare, and it made our time in New York truly memorable. We look forward to our stay in August.
My stay was fantastic from the moment I checked in with Sophy. The room was incredibly nice, and I particularly liked the antique decor. A big shoutout to Sharon for making my stay so memorable. I’m definitely coming back because of Shauna she’s an exceptional person. Shauna is truly a blessing to the hotel.
Our third time here and each stay surpasses the last! First, thank you Shauna — from early check-in to late check out, Shauna helped us feel welcome and comfortable. She even surprised us when we returned from dinner— two lovely anniversary cupcakes and fresh water. We were upgraded to a 14th floor king ( corner) full of light. We asked for extra towels and a microwave and these arrived within ten minutes! In the morning, a beautiful buffet breakfast included a request for an order of eggs over easy for my husband.
The location was perfect— near Grand Central where we took a train to Hudson Yards and walked the Hi-line to Pastis for dinner.
We live only an hour from NYC and this will always be our go to hotel for special occasions.
Thank you to everyone who made this such a special experience!
I have a wonderful stay, once again! Thanks for the double upgrade to the super clean and cozy king room and the ambassador perks at The Parlor restaurant for breakfast and dinner, and discount from local shops. Thanks to all the welcome and happy staffs, mostly the check in agent Keith Rogan makes my stay completely satisfy. Definitely, I will revisit, if I am back in NY.

The hotel’s location is fabulous, and the atmosphere throughout is incredible. Our room was clean and spacious, and the service was excellent across the board—reception, doorman, bar, and more. Everyone was consistently attentive and welcoming. Highly recommended.
Intercontinental Barclay is an excellent choice for a visit to New York City. The mid-town location is really great and is a few blocks from the subway and many attractions. The service was really good and though the room was on the small side, it was very clean and comfortable with all the amenities we needed. I would happily return to this hotel for my next stay in NYC.
While the staff was very friendly, the reception area was quite tired.
As always, the hotel was magnificent, the perfect location for a hotel in NYC! All the staff are courteous, helpful, and friendly. The room was appointed beautifully and was very clean. Bed linens were beyond heavenly! Walking into the lobby was like walking back into the splendor of days gone by. We can’t wait until our next visit!
The property was beautiful, classic, clean and comfortable.
Nothing
Stayed in hotel in May 2026. Hotel is in a great location but not sure it is a great value for a what you pay. Besides some typical minor inconveniences like togo coffee container being empty alot and the breakfast buffet being overwhelmed to the point it wasn't usable, the main issue with the hotel is service. Without getting into the details, this hotel will ask you multiple times before and during your stay if everything is fine and what can be improved. When I spent time to respond to multiple requests, I got ghosted on my replies even on followup requests. This is a first for me for getting ghosted by people who initiate the conversation.
