The view
How small a king room was.
THIS SECOND BOOKING WAS FOR MY FRIEND AS A GIFT.. I CAME AND THE MAN AT RECEPTION SAID THAT THE BOOKING HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR MY FRIEND EVEN THAT I PAID FOR IT.
THE BOOKING HASNT BEEN CANCELLED AND HE HAD NOWEHRE TO STAY. AND I STILL GOT CHARGED MONEY FOR THIS BOOKING AND THERE IS NO REFUND. I M VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS.. I SENT THEM MANY MESSAGES AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONDING TO MY MESSAGES PLEASE SEE BELOW.
I liked how kind the staff was, even when I came from another country and I didn't had the charger for my phone because in the USA they have different place to charge your items- they gave me a solution that helped me. The man who helped me with the luggage and also showed me how to use elevator and where my room number was, he was also very helpful and very kind. :)The room was big with a view that was very beautiful ,the food was great as well! This hotel overall is very good and I like it that the people who work there are so kind with you! I felt safe and happy during my stay and I would recommend for others to use this hotel as well!
The only thing that I do recommend is some emergency desk at the reception ,or separate desk that serves for checking out only. I had a situation happen where I couldnt get into my room because my room card stopped working(and i had flight coming up and needed to get my items) and when I came back downstairs the rows of people were so long so when i tried to go ahead faster and hotel guests started complaining at me, but I had no choice its either miss flight or wait in a row. So i came ahead and the hotel guy helped me and fixed my card ahead of everyone else. Once again the hotel staff were very good and helpful.
I would also loved if there was some souvenir shop on the site at the hotel.. :)
Once i got my parking it was a lot of walking because a lot of doors were locked.
That a lot of your doors were locked.
I liked my stay at the Marriott at the Renaissance Center. I find it surprising how many reviewers on here are complaining about the service. I thought all of the staff were friendly!
The rooms are beautiful as well...very spacious and comfortable! While the windows take up an entire side of the room, they have huge room-darkening curtains that easily block out all of the light. I had no problem getting a decent night's rest.
The one and only minor issue that I ran into was that the garbage can in my room was about three-quarters of the way full with chip bags, candy wrappers, and pop bottles. Housekeeping should have been a bit more diligent.
Also, do not stay if you just want the scenery. It is not guaranteed. I was placed in a room on the 16th floor that faced two of the outer four office towers. I have to admit that it would have been nice if I got a room facing downtown or Windsor, but I had to take what they gave me.
A Final Note About Safety: I can understand the fear of crime with the location being in the heart of Detroit, but downtown is generally quite safe and I had zero issues. No car break-ins or anything. They have security guards protecting the premises 24 hours a day. Plus, the elevators are locked and you have to scan your room key to access all of the guestroom floors.
I would not mind staying again!
Restaurant server and valet attendant were both outstanding! They were friendly, honest and attentive. Huge asset to the hotel.
Bathroom sink faucet broke-would not turn off. Tissue box nearly empty and no back up. Lamp on desk not working. Breakfast —poached eggs completely overcooked—like hard boiled eggs; fruit alternative was old.
That location was perfect. The parking garage straight across the street. customer service was excellent . The Riverview could not have been matched. 59th floor 🥰
The bed was just a bit uncomfortable for me. And I did order breakfast. The eggs were not what I ordered. I ordered medium well poached eggs, and they came out very runny. The next time I stay I definitely will go for the breakfast buffet. It was very beautiful displayed.
I tried a zillion different ways to reach concierge services to order a gift to be left in my daughter's hotel room who will be arriving on Monday, June 8th & staying for four days. There was no way to reach a real person to do this through the various phone numbers provided. The company should rely a bit less on bots & spend on real people!
La ubicación
Estuve 3 noches y solo una vez limpiaron la habitación,
So disappointing. This is an amazing space and location in an amazing city. In a word, this hotel is janky:
Restaurant/ bar stupidly overpriced, $14 for a domestic draft beer, $20 for well drinks, food overpriced as well, for the quality. $35 per person for a simple breakfast buffet? No thank you.
Room was dirty, shower curtain moldy at the bottom, cleaning was so poorly done there was a dime and a penny left on the floor, along with other debris, so obviously the room was not even vacuumed. Gross.
In the lobby there were 2 large clear water dispensers, but they are so lazy/janky they could not even add ice, let alone some lemon or cucumber slices. We've stayed in much less expensive hotels with those types of little touches that make it a nice experience.
For a hotel that hosts people from all over the world, and represents our great city of Detroit, this place is an embarrassment.
The room was cozy
The hair on the walls in the shower and the F1 track on the way of Ubers getting to me and dropping me off. I'll definitely stay somewhere else next year.
This hotel is located in a very central location. There are restaurants, a coffee shop, a bar, etc. and you don't even have to go outside. I was ready to give them 2 stars and vowed to never return again because: 1 - the check-in and out lines are too long 2 - the room had the appearance of a three star hotel 3 - the sink counter top only had a soap, a tissue box and a little used hand cream (bring your own make uo magnifying mirror and Q-tips) 4- some of the room service food was terrible (not all) and 5 - their room service app is glitchy. Ine day, I ordered and the food did not show up. Then, on my last night there, after a long day of work, I started to feel thirsty and noticed at 11:49 p.m. that I forgot to buy water. I ran to the phone and asked the person if I could still find a place to go buy water before mid-night closure . Answer: "Oh no ma'am. We will bring you water to your room." Within 10 minutes, I had 2 bottles of Evian water. And the person who dropped them off ran off without waiting for a tip. I recalled that all the room service people were very kind and unassuming. What can I say? They made me change my mind. I will stay here again if I visit Detroit because they rescued me from dehydration and the room service people are very kind. I just have to remember to bring a magnifying mirror. Besides, I enjoyed dinner at The Highlands. Thank you Marriott.
Stayed here for one night earlier this month and have mixed feelings about this hotel. The hotel itself is massive and attached to the Renaissance Center, however the surrounding complex is sitting empty and abandoned. Walking through large sections of unoccupied space didn’t really create an welcoming atmosphere.
The room itself was descent, but nothing special for the price. Bathrooms are starting to show their age, and could use an update. The rooms are quite noisy, with the circular hallways it seemed to echo and noises and amplify doors slamming throughout the night.
There are quite a few restaurants nearby, which was convenient, but the immediate area didn’t feel safe to be walking around at night. There are other hotels that are better options nearby.
Ease of parking, access to People Mover, proximity to downtown
Stunning views over Detroit, Windsor and the Detroit River. This 1980s architectural marvel hasn't aged well. Surrounding buildings have high vacancy rate, leaving key access points locked and halls empty. Main entrance is up a side street and feels hidden. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed with good accessibility, but staffing is uneven. Food is good, although my vegetarian quesadilla arrived with chicken.
