My Marriott stay
Pros:

The restaurant in the Marriott had absolutely the best food. It was a bit pricey but worth every penny. The rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable.

Cons:

My toilet would flush only part of the time. Called for service, but got it going minutes later, so I canceled the service. Only later to find out that the flush was not working again.

Make sure you check your invoice!
Pros:

Overall average facility. Nothing especially remarkable. It was clean and adequate for a two night stay.

Cons:

Secretly charged a smoking fee of $350. Was not mentioned at checkout and was only found when looking at a SECOND invoice sent. When disputing this the front desk was extremely indifferent and could not give me the contact information of the “third party” responsible for the penalty. I was given a Smoking Dispute Form via email which had to be converted to a word document before it could be filled out and sent back to an email that did not respond. I had to call back multiple times just to even find out if they received the form. I was again met with an annoyed and desperately unbothered employee. The closest thing to empathy or compassion was the statement “I understand “ and that nationwide Marriotts were in the process of ending the contract with REST (the third party smoke detectors) after July 1. A specific timeline to anticipate was vaguely defined regarding response to my dispute.

Excellent Location - Quiet rooms - Not good Breakfast Options.
Pros:

On April 9-12 2026, my wife and I visited Richmond Va. We stayed at this Marriot hotel (Broad Street). Our room (4th floor) was relatively large, very quiet, and well appointed, we enjoyed best the large bed and the bathroom. The front desk services were excellent. Its location is perfect, close to many restaurants and sights of interest.

We were particularly pleased with the help we received from the staff opening one of our suitcases. The TSA combination lock did not open. We asked for help, and after a few minutes, a maintanance man showed up with a bolt-cutter. That was quite enough to solve the problem.

Our only objection to this lodging was the lack of a good breakfast option. We examined the menu a couple of times, and we did not like the offers. We particulalrly noticed an almost complete absence of fresh fruits.

Many travelers could be interested to know that the complimentary five mile radius transportation offered by the Marrior, does not run on Sundays. It is also worth to mention that for some reason the "Lyft App" does not seem to recognize the "Marriot Downtown" name, and it is becessary to enter the actual street address to make it work.

However, the Marriot could still be adequated for many visitors, and we gladly recommend it to anyone heading to Richmond Virginia.

EXCELLENT Hotel
Pros:

Excellent. I booked the MClub Lounge. This hotel is a luxury feel hotel. The Valet personnel were super polite and quick about retrieving the vehicle. The hotel check-in personnel were attentive and professional. The personnel for the lounge were professional as well. The restaurant staff were courtesy.

Only one issue I booked the hotel based on it stated no pets. Yet there was dog in the MClub Lounge.

I specifically book hotels that state No Pets.

Other than this I would highly recommend this hotel.
