Very tired looking room. Passable for a night on my own.
Central Hotel Cheltenham is in a grade 2 listed Georgian building. I like being somewhere with a bit of history. It also has a carpark (accessed from road, which runs behind the hotel) which is unusual for hotels in this area although it is on a first come first serve basis we arrived on Friday evening, and it was practically empty. The staff were very friendly and helpful while the hotel itself was old. The bathroom looked a brand spanking new.
I guess the hotel is a little shabby, but it’s such a good price and so central and has a car park. I didn’t really mind about the slightly old carpet, etc..
The location is great but that is it. Worst I’ve ever stayed in, and I’ve stayed in many!
The hotel is unkept. The carpets are stained and looked like they are older than the building. The table in the room looked like it was covered in a fungus. Tea and coffee in room but no mugs! The en suite smelt. Not toilet roll holder in toilet. I paid to park car in nearest NCP car park, to be told there is free parking at hotel, but there is no way of knowing how to get into the parking. This is the first hotel I’ve ever experienced, it’s vile.
Place is situated in town centre and ideal for walking around Cheltenham with access to public transport if you want to venture further. Rooms are a adequate size and clean.

No fans no air con nothing.. in this weather you need to provide these. So anyone looking to book don’t in this heat
We liked having bowls to eat our weetabix.
We arrived quite late and the receptionist was charming and helpful.
It was a very hot day over 30°. There was only a small fan in a top room which meant it was very, very hard to get to sleep.
Because of arriving late parking was somewhat challenged in a very small car park.
Convenient location in the centre of Cheltenham
Very dated decor. Fowl smell of sewerage / drain water in bathroom and internal door handle was broken in arrival. Overpriced for the condition of the room and hotel.

The hotel is a little tired but for the price that’s fine, it was clean comfortable and staff were very friendly and accommodating. I stayed in a double room, with a little kitchen including fridge and microwave which was great!
Bathroom clean with soap and towels.
I stayed very comfortable for 3 nights and would stay again.
