Won't bother going there ever.
Cons:

I sent a cancellation notice through Booking .com. I never received a confirmation from the hotel that the reservation was cancelled.

Friendly Staff, comfortable rooms, outlandish fees for a dog!
Pros:

Breakfast was decent. Bagel & eggs were good. Didn’t try oatmeal because it looked too watery.
Loved the size of the King-Studio room! So spacious and comfortable, and had a small kitchen!

Cons:

I was in SHOCK when staff informed me that the pet fee was $150.!!!! They stated that this was the price whether you stay one night or one week (or longer). They also shared that this was for the cleaning supplies after the dog stays in the room. If that’s the case, these rooms should not have carpet on the floor. They should be hardwood. I paid $179. For the room, not including tax and you want to charge me as much for my dog to stay? It’s absolutely ludicrous! For this reason, I would never stay there again. I would only recommend this place to people that do not have a pet.

Perfect space for multiple families
Pros:

Spent five days here for Water Polo Junior Olympics. Location was great. Near the 55 freeway, lots of places to eat nearby. The rooms were nice, clean and well maintained. With lots of families together, we spent every evening in the courtyard next to the pool, eating, playing games and talking. When the staff saw we were eating outside they offered plates and silverware. Didn’t have to ask. Great customer service. We’ve stayed here before, and look forward to staying here again.

Clean but Overpriced
Pros:

Room was clean, bed was comfortable.

Cons:

Overpriced for the location. Toilet stuck and ran off and on all night. Pool is very small. Breakfast was just ok, no muffins for pastries just bagels.

Very nice stay, we will return. I just wish they didn’t have a parking fee.
Pros:

Everything was awesome. We really enjoyed it. I wish we could stay longer. Breakfast was wonderful. The room we stayed in was big and comfortable. Love that It had a kitchen. We made cookies in the oven. Overall, it was a great experience and will be back.

Cons:

I did not like that. There was a parking fee. We stayed at other Residence Inns and there were no parking fees and to top it off when we first got there we got to park by our suite, but we went out for dinner when we came back. There were no parking whatsoever near us and I’m handicap so that would’ve been nice if they would have had a couple of handicap parking near our space. So I had to walk far. I did not like that at all. I asked him if they could waive the fee because I’m handicap and they said no no acceptance at all also breakfast should be at least till 10 AM on weekdays as well as weekends.

Friendly Service, Outdated Rooms
Pros:

We stayed at Residence Inn by Marriott Costa Mesa Newport Beach for 2 nights. I was a little bummed not to get a complimentary upgrade for being bonvoy gold elite, since that’s usually something we get during our stays. The bigger issue was the condition of the rooms—they felt very outdated, had a noticeable old smell, and honestly didn’t reflect the level of quality we usually expect from a Marriott property. Our first room (723) had a really unpleasant issue—the sofa bed mattress was badly stained. It was pretty gross, especially since my daughters were supposed to sleep on it. I called the front desk and Sam helped us switch rooms right away, which I appreciated. The new room didn’t have the stained mattress, but overall it was still about the same in terms of condition. The best part of the stay was definitely the staff and the breakfast. Sam at the front desk was friendly and gave us some great recommendations for nearby beaches. The breakfast staff were also wonderful—especially the woman cooking and cleaning tables. She was always so kind and greeted us every morning. Also, I wanted to give them credit for letting us know we accidentally left a few items behind. We received a text message from Marriott. They gave us the option to have everything mailed back (for a fee), which we appreciated. It was nice that they were proactive and made the effort to contact us. My family and I come to Newport Beach a couple times a year for a quick getaway, and we usually stick with Marriott properties if we don’t book an Airbnb. This hotel is not staying on our list of “will return”…Unfortunately, this stay just didn’t meet the standards we’ve come to expect from Marriott, and the property is clearly in need of renovations.

Went above and beyond
Pros:

Stayed at property to get a break from cold Utah weather and hit the beach & Disneyland. This hotel was a great location to get to both of those! Karissa checked me in and helped me with all my questions (there were many) and 3 days later remembered I wanted to see a concert and gave me new info so I could go!
I was so appreciative of all her help it truly made my stay more memorable! I will be back

Overall it was a great stay, no serious complaints here just wish the overall presentation of the room matched the poctu
Pros:

I liked that the property had so many amenities to offer and was nearby to food and so many stores. Safe location, breakfast included and over the top customer service without a doubt.

Cons:

I did not like that the unit we had was both outdated and run down, the room was either not cleaned properly or sat for a while without being rented as I had to clean both bathtubs and they were extremely dirty before even showering there. If I hadn’t booked for a special occasion and had all activities lined up I may have reconsidered my stay due to the uncertainty of cleanliness throughout especially the carpeted areas. I also wasn’t aware that they have long term rentals which doesn’t make or break my stay but would have been nice if we weren’t in a room near the long term renters as I feel like the quality of our room reflects as such. I expected a more modern room with it being 2026 and I think that management should invest into their property a bit more if they expect travelers to want to return.
