Hotel was recently renovated. The room was clean with new bed that was comfortable. Towels were nice. Had plenty of seating places in the room. Shower is a tub/shower and the shower curtain did not keep water from getting to the floor in the bathroom. Room was basic but that's ok for this trip. The room refrigerator was nice and had a small freezer that helped for our drive home because I take a med that I need to keep cold. So I was able to refreeze the ice packs!
As noted, the hotel was recently renovated. The vending machines in the lobby were all empty. The booking said that breakfast was included but it was not. The coffee is Pete's Coffee, which is good but that was also required purchase. There is a single serve cup coffee in the room
Staff and location.
The photos shown in the website are for the deluxe rooms. The standard rooms are not shown for on purpose. They are old and gross.
I stayed at this hotel 4 nights while motorcycling around the nearby mountains and overall, I was comfortable with all the room facilities worked well. I did have an issue with the in-room coffee maker (it just gurgled without putting out any coffee). I told the front desk on the way out that day and I had a new coffee maker when I returned. The location was good with several food options available including an Indian restaurant on site. I tried it the first night and the food was very good with nice fresh made Naan. The same restaurant becomes a coffeeshop/breakfast venue in the morning, and the food was very good but maybe a bit pricey.
I would have liked a breakfast included in the room cost (I did get a 10% discount for breakfast even though you must remember to tell them you are a guest - they do not ask) which I forgot to do. I ended up taking a short walk to a nearby grocery store and picked up a few item I could have for breakfast (they have a refrigerator and microwave in room).
Clean
Only beer and wine
Wonderful service at desk. Great location.
Very quiet!
There is a coffee shop, seating, restaurant and bar onsite. Cleaner than I expected upon checking in.
Run down, understaffed. Room has seen better days, chipped paint, holes in the wall, fluorescent lights that flicker. Seems to be a lot of staff living at the motel, and doesn't have a welcoming vibe.
Swimming pool available
Booked a room through Booking.com for 4 adults and 2 children, but the room we got - the 2 kids had to sleep in the floor! Said breakfast was included - but it wasn’t!
The room was so dismal, and 1 channel on the TV. We left super early and went around the mountain pass. Found a wonderful shop. Stopped enjoyed some beautiful nature and was back in Taos before noon.
I had made reservations a month in advance. They wanted to put me on the 2nd floor , even though we are older. To keep downstairs rooms for walk ins ( in the am they did not even have the bottom floor all booked ) I insisted because of business traveling, luggage's and no elevators. They gave us a crappy room , the tv only had 1 channel. The toilet didn't flush very well. There was no coffee in the room. Had to walk to the front of the hotel to buy coffee.
Location was good. Price was decent but about on par with the value I got.
Hostess was rude and cold upon entrance. I walked in and was checking out the lobby and the hostess scoped me out and proceeded to ask what my business was in the place. I told her I had a reservation and was just checking out the place. She proceeded to continue her very cold approach to me throughout the whole check in process. Not great.
The door was UNLOCKED when I got to my room. The lock apparently sticks and you have to make sure it's closed when you close it. Also NOT GREAT. There was a stray hair tie thing under one of the nightstands also, so probably not a good sign of cleanliness.
