Hampton Inn Long Island/Islandia

We paid for a room with two Queen beds through Booking.com but our room was a standard 1 Queen (maybe because that was what was available traveling with our dog).
Our room was down the hall from the dining area and the smell of frying bacon in the morning was overwhelming/nauseating in our room.
The dog walking area had no gate or entrance. We had to squeeze between a fence and a bush. Also, the area was being watered at 6 in the morning which is when dog owners usually walk their dog upon waking up. Couldn't do so without getting drenched.
TV closed captioning for live programs (e.g. network news) has a bizarre method of starting the words in the middle of the screen and spreading laterally from the middle to the left and right rather than going from left to right. Very difficult to read. Have found this to be the case with other Hampton Inns/Hilton hotels not just this one. Not great for the hearing impaired.

NO LAUNDRY, HAD TO GO TO A LAUNDROMAT
6 MILES AWAY. I'VE BEEN TRAVELING FOR 60 YEARS THIS IS THE 1ST HOTEL THAT DIDN'T HAVE ONE.

The hotel has good people but needs bigger rooms

The carpet smelled like it needed to be cleaned.

Toaletten var skiten! Vi har prøvd å få noen til å vaske men fikk ingen hjelp fra resepsjonen....vi måtte vaske selv fordi det fantes ikke et annet ledig rom å få på hotelet!

I arrived at the hotel after several consecutive days of working until very late each night and was completely exhausted. That day alone, I had spent approximately 16 hours photographing a wedding. After checking into my room, I plugged in all of my camera batteries to recharge and began downloading the thousands of images from the day’s work.
Almost immediately, I noticed that the floor felt sticky and dirty beneath my feet, so I put on a pair of slippers. When I went into the bathroom, I found that the bathroom bin was already full. I then noticed that the waste bin in the bedroom was also full.
At this point, I became concerned and started looking around the room more carefully. I noticed there were only three pillows on the bed, which struck me as odd. The final confirmation came when I stepped into the shower and saw a used towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. It was immediately obvious that the room had not been cleaned after the previous guest.
At around 2:00 a.m., I went to reception and requested to be moved to a clean room. I was told there were no alternative rooms available, that my room could not be cleaned at that time, and that there was no solution the hotel could offer.
I therefore raised a complaint through Booking.com. The property’s response was to offer to clean the room the following day. This was entirely unhelpful, as I was checking out the next morning. In other words, they were offering to provide the service I had already paid for only after my stay had effectively ended.
As a result, I was left with no option but to spend the night sleeping in a used bed in a room that had clearly not been cleaned after the previous guest. This falls well below any reasonable standard of cleanliness or customer service and is simply unacceptable.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend staying at this property.
