Basic; clean and cheap. These 3 words capture my experience. The rooms are big and have the basic features but the facilities are tired and need a proper freshen-up. Stayed in a room next to the kitchen exhaust; the noise stopped at 9:30pm and started at 7am. Would not stay here for more than one night.

Das Zimmer war sehr unsauber, der Boden hatte Unebenheiten und Löcher es standen zwei Defekte Ventilatoren darin, die Dusche war undicht.
Absolute joke!! Parking is limited so good luck!! Restaurant had food on floor, tables dirty. Receptionist was rude, not helpful and couldn’t care less!! His attitude was that he didn’t want to be there! I know the hotel is old but it was extremely higher in temp than outside!!! No air conditioning. Room was stifling there was a small electric fan which did nothing, bathroom extractor didn’t work, wallpaper torn , no headboard hence the pillows covered the light switches. Did not sleep a wink! Was booked for 2 nights but left in the morning and booked in elsewhere

Problem getting car parked, entered the restaurant door and there was food on floor, looked dirty. Checking in and the reception staff was so rude, unhelpful and wasn’t really interested in his job. Explained no car parking spaces, where do we park he shrugged his shoulders and said possibly at another pub but will cost money or go somewhere over to the back of hotel, not helpful!!! Hotel was hotter than outside!! Room was so stuffy, only small fan which did nothing. Bathroom fan didn’t work, no headboard, pillows covered the light switches, wallpaper torn, carpet didn’t look clean. We didn’t sleep much due to heat! Never had breakfast and never went back for our second night. Basically paid money for nothing thing!! Booked in somewhere else for our second night!

Property is run down and tatty. Carpet in the eating area is a discrace

Roaring hot room with overheating fans, dirty bathroom, filthy mattress, cold water tap ran hit, carpets in main area and room dirty and threadbare
We stayed in room 12 which was a total disgrace. So many maintenance issues with peeling paint, shower screen leak flooding the floor, soap dispenser broken, toilet roll holder falling off the wall, fan not working, door handle not working, mould on shower screen frame, the list is endless!
Reported all the faults to the duty manager and wanted him to see them, but he said he was aware of all the faults! So why rent a room in this totally unacceptable condition? He did process a full refund and apologised. Marston’s should be embarrassed to rent rooms in this condition. Avoid this hotel at all costs!

Room 07 just needs some tlc. A good clean and lick of paint to spruce it up. A new well fitted carpet.
Probably the worst meal ever.
I ordered sirloin rare which was brought as a tough medium and nearly unchewable. The mushrooms were dry and shrivelled.
My friend had a hunters Chicken. When it arrived she asked where the sauce was and was told it was on the chicken but we couldn't see it. She asked for more barbeque sauce and was given sachets! The meat was dry and she only managed to eat half the chicken. We were so disappointed, we didn't bother with a sweet. To be fair to the bar staff were were credited with a drink each

La struttura è vecchissima e in terribili condizioni. C'erano due ventilatori mezzi rotti, la finestra in pessime condizioni, il pavimento tutto storto e anche le scale.
An ideal location for us, and a very welcome spacious room. We were on a walking trip, so the bath was a definite bonus for the aching legs and feet. Very friendly and helpful staff made it a great stopover for us.
Excellent petit déjeuner. Personnel très accueillant et sympathique.
