Well I didn’t read reviews before hand. I don’t think it’s as bad as some saying to STAY AWAY. It’s a 2-3 star hotel and that’s what it is. We were in town for a World Cup game. It was priced high but that’s what happens with big events. It is conveniently located and we got to the Power and Light area of KC quickly. We chose this hotel vs another because the pool looked fun. Well the pool had a “closed by Missouri Dept of Public health” sign on it. There is quite a few areas under construction. The game room was filled with construction equipment. But we were not using that anyways. Just a foot note.
We were on first floor parking lot side. Which is very close to the room so curtains pulled the whole time. But I can’t comment on the elevator because we never used it. The room itself was clean. The toilet required 2 flushes with each use. Not very powerful. Shower had good pressure and hot water. Soap/shampoo/conditioner provided smelled great! The room was humid and the air was ok but didn’t work great. It wasn’t hot in the room per se but we couldn’t make it colder either. Beds were comfortable and we slept well the 2 nights we stayed. Room had a good size mini fridge too. We did discover behind our dresser there was a (empty?) box of condoms and two (empty?) 5 hour Engert drinks. Ay e not as cleanly as my initial impression. Luckily we noticed that on way out when I was looking for misplaced item. We felt safe and secure. Front desk staff was kind. There is a pantry there of sorts which was great because I was in desperate need to Tylenol. Overall just a mid hotel, but I wasn’t expecting the Ritz.

Left after about an hour as we kept finding issues with cleanliness after check in. Was told needed to inform them within 20 minutes. Told them of multiple issues we kept finding. Asked questions and was told now you’re just stacking issues. Was charged $54 dollars because we didn’t meet the cancellation agreement as expected. Tried to call management multiple times to address the unmet expectation of clean room. Hung up on multiple times, finally told to call at a specific time and did and to no surprise no answer. Long story short pick anywhere else.

Very poor experience, from rooms to breakfast it was a big disappointment overall, let alone for $500/night. Lack of cleanliness and maintenance are obvious, not having A/C that properly works in the summer was terrible.

The location only.

This hotel was an unsafe environment. First there is major equipment and tools left out in the open areas and the pool area where children play. Second the elevator lurches and makes a huge clunking sound that feels like it is not working as intended. Third the rooms are not very well cleaned with water stains on the bathroom floor and water stains on the ceiling with paint peeling. This place is not kept up with weird smells trying to overpower mildew and vapes.

On top of that the air conditioning vent was dripping all night onto the sink, the countertop, into our toiletries/medicines and created a huge puddle all over the bathroom floor in the middle of the night. Now we know why there were water stains on the floor and why the ac unit was shut off before we got there. This was a huge safety concern and caused one of our household to slip in the water. I also then found bugs heading straight from the bedroom into the bathroom water pile.

When I tried to bring this up at the front desk there was no manager on duty. The front desk wanted me to wait around for 90 minutes until the manager got there. I left my details and information to be contacted when the manager came in and proceeded to write a detailed email with photos because I was not going to wait around with my family and young children. The manager did not call so I called later that day, well after the 90 minutes. They said the manager was running late and he would be there in twenty minutes. I waited another two hours and called again. Now the manager wasn't coming in at all and there was no one to issue a refund for two more days. When I spoke to the manager two days later he had not gotten any of my messages nor seen my email. I filled him in and he said he'd have to talk to the general manager in order to issue a refund and would call me back in the next thirty minutes. He didn't call. He did send an email around 9pm offering to refund half of my stay at this point which is unacceptable. This was neglagent and a safety concern. I will never stay at a Wingate by Wyndham every again. Honestly I may never stay at a Wyndham again and we have used the time shares many times in the past.

This was unacceptable and the lack of communication with the guests from management when there is a serious concern is appalling. There is no excuse and this entire hotel needs to be evaluated from someone else is in the company before there is a lawsuit.

There were many more issues such as bathrooms not having toilet paper, no swim towels out, breakfast food being out and the staff unable to keep up with the number of guests, breakfast staff touching the spoons with barehands, dropping on the counter where food had spilled and then placing the spoons back on the plate for guests to use, and more. Not only will I not recommend staying here but I will be actively warning people against it.
