It grew on me but it is very dated and needs a deep clean. I don't care about the datedness of the place but the rooms could be cleaner. I had checked out and needed to return so I had 2 different rooms. Both rooms had mold looking spots in the bathtub tile and mirrors that weren't quite clean and the brown carpet didn't help. The bed linen and towels were clean and nice thick towels. Bathroom floors had radiant heat.
We were there for a procedure at Sunnybrook Hospital and this is your best bet if you have to go to Sunnybrook. It is easy to get to the hotel from anywhere and easy commute to Sunnybrook Hospital.
It is not luxury, it is just a tired hotel. The pool looks very cool with lots of natural light and there is also an outdoor pool for the warmer months. There is also a gym and a restaurant (only restaurant within walking distance).
The property is off the road and quite private which is nice.
We arrived and checked in shortly after midnight, only to encounter multiple unacceptable issues that rendered the room unsafe and uninhabitable.
Firstly, the heating system in the room was excessively loud, making it impossible to sleep.
Secondly, there was a metal rod protruding from the bed frame, which caused injury to my wife’s leg This is a clear health and safety hazard.
Thirdly, the wash basin in the bathroom had no proper drainage, as the stopper was stuck and could not be opened. One of the power socket in the bathroom was clearly burnt.
These issues were immediately reported to the receptionist, Miss Sue, who attended the room but was unable to resolve them. She attempted to relocate us by showing us six different rooms across multiple floors; however, the heating systems in those rooms were even noisier. Instead of resting at 1:00 a.m., we were taken from floor to floor in search of a usable room, but none were suitable.
I requested to speak with the duty manager to seek a resolution, including the possibility of a room upgrade, but was informed that no manager was available overnight and that the receptionist did not have the authority to make such decisions. We were told to wait until the morning.
With no alternative available, we were forced to remain in the original room. We attempted to mitigate the safety risk by covering the exposed metal rod with a pillow, but we were unable to sleep at all due to the extreme noise. Turning off the heating was not an option, as the outside temperature was approximately -1°C.
The following morning, I returned to reception expecting to speak with a manager, only to be informed that no manager would be available for 2 days. When I explained the situation to the receptionist named Einav, I was met with an extremely dismissive and unprofessional response. I was told, “you booked the cheapest room,” and that there was a sign outside indicating the building is due for demolition. These remarks were both inappropriate and unacceptable.
When I raised concerns about the health and safety risks and mentioned the possibility of legal action, I was abruptly told, “I will stop you there,” and that she could no longer speak with me, advising me instead to contact head office. However, she refused to provide any contact details for the hotel’s head office.
Given the circumstances, we had no option but to check out immediately. We requested a full refund and were told it would be processed via the booking agent.
This experience was wholly unacceptable.
As a result of this incident, we suffered physical injury, significant distress, and the loss of a full day of our holiday due to sleep deprivation and the need to urgently secure alternative accommodation at a much higher price due to last minute booking.
if you are traveling to the greater Toronto area and want to stay at a large, fantastic hotel -- stay at this one!
it is Great -- its a bit on the older side, but in a genuinely classic way. the rooms are comfortable and clean -- our shower was great; our bed was really comfortable. it was not in the middle of town but easy enough to get to by car.
the people working there were generous with their time -- never had us feeling rushed. easy, reasonably priced parking.
but my favorite part was the little store -- it had nice stuff very fairly priced and the woman working there was helpful. the best part of whole experience was no one -- NO ONE, was pushy. we arrived a bit early -- and that wasnt a problem.
the food was delicious by any standard -- not just hotel standards.
the price was fair, reasonable -- solid!
there is no better place around for the price.
the single hassle was there were not microwaves in the room. but it didnt seem to matter to us because the food was so good and fresh and reasonably priced. no microwavable food would be that delicious
We stayed at this hotel for 2026 Provincials Hockey Tournament! Someone should have read the reviews before adding this hotel to the list for teams to choose from!
We arrived at the hotel prior to our first game, looking to drop off our luggage - the early check in charge is $40 (never been charged an early check in at any other hotel).
When we entered the hotel there was a strong odour of weed (even though they charge $250 for smoking, vaping or smoking weed). When we got to our floor the stench of weed was worse! Our room was musty (thankfully I brought febreeze with me), old and out of date. Our room had 2 double beds, a chair, and a desk. We also had quite a large a TV, but it had a small chunk missing out of the screen (I will add photo). Our room did not have an alarm clock or screen for the patio door,
Our bathroom vanity was damaged and they used scotch tape to “repair” it (I will include photo). There was hair on the walls of the shower.
The beds were decent, but the one duvet had burn holes in it, and a chocolate stain. My child also noted that the carpet beside the night table was quite dusty and there was.a piece of broccoli or a weed bud under the bed (I will include photo).
The woman who checked us in was quite rude, argued with me about the cost of parking. Tried to tell me parking was $15/night when on their own website it says $11.95/night; she wouldn’t provide me with a copy of anything I signed, instead said “take a photo”.
The pool was nice for the kids, but lacked seating for parents to actually monitor their kids. The glass roof was questionable as it has many broken/cracked pieces with tuck tape on them.
I would not recommend staying here even if the alternative was sleeping in your car!
I checked in late after a long drive. The room looked like there had been a brawl, broken washroom sink, broken picture on the wall, ripped up carpet at the door, dust on lamps. I would be ashamed to offer such. The bed stunk. I couldn't sleep in it. When I asked to be moved, the front desk asked me what the bed stunk of. What a question! Fortunately the 2nd room was better and closer to the elevators. Still not the best. Pool out of service, No smoking policy is not enforced, as was evident walking down the hallway.
Worst crap box I’ve ever stayed in. Found the same things other people posted. The icing on the cake was the maid stole my Mac Cosmetics blush. I complaint at the front desk and the guy said, ‘I hardly think the cleaning staff would steal make up’. I’m not done with this. If he hadn’t been a condescending ahole I would let it go but now I am going to be a dog on a bone. Avoid this dump!

The location was beautiful, right next to a ravine
It is dated, certain things in our room were very old, like shower fixtures, but it did work! Colours were very dated. There was a very cold draft coming from underneath the room heater, we wondered if there was something where outside air was coming in! Finally we blocked the cold air with pillows

Connection with internet and oulet, also the AC didn't work properly
The layout of the pool was great. The beds weren't the worst.
The one cleaning staff member was extremely rude at pool area. The indoor pool area has mold on the walls. Our room itself could have been better kept up. Wallpaper pealing stains and hair on the bed skirt, holes and dirt on the walls. Trying to leave was impossible. Busses blocked the exit/entrance of the hotel for almost an hour. Staff did nothing to try and direct traffic flow and just told me to continue to wait while the busses kept the exit blocked. Kinda a major safety hazard. Will not be going back.
Nice location!
