Location was good, staff was friendly. We only stayed for one night, bed was comfortable enough.
Room was a bit outdated, and we had trouble shutting our door sometimes. Walls seemed very thin, we could hear the room next to us and they were quite noisy.
nothing
During my stay I never saw anyone working, the pool water was freezing cold, the rooms weren't cleaned
The sheets seemed to be clean
We drove past the kingston "regency" inn a number of times trying to find it, as all branding except for "The Venue Uptown" is currently stripped off of the building and signage, and it is nestled behind a scenic chain pizzeria, between the beautiful eospus creek and an active railroad track. For no particular reason at all, the room rate tripled on the date for which I had a reservation, so the following is a review for a $349 room, for which one might have high expectations. After parking in the thoroughly potholed and poorly lit parking lot, and walking into the poorly renovated vestibule and lobby, I picked up my room keys over the cacophony of a Hispanic wedding reception at the hotel bar. From here we walked the dingy, poorly lit, and smoke reeking hallways, which could not have more effectively been painted to evoke an evil atmosphere, and finding our room, shuffled over the threadbare carpet into the room, and was greeted by the chirp of a dying smoke detector, which happened also to be hanging off of the wall only by the electrical wires. To the establishments credit, they immediately got us into a new room, and while we walked to it, no less than half a dozen similar chirps were heard emanating from other rooms. The new room would be free of this enraging tone, however the air conditioner howled like a freight train for the entire night, which I decided was worth suffering over gambling on a third room. My sister had read that this hotel had a game room with a pool table, and so we set off to find this place armed with the borderline nonsensical evacuation map that was given to us at thd front desk, which placed the "games area" vaguely in middle of all of the rooms. After much wandering, and seeing no signage for a game room, we tried the door to the pool toom, and emermerged into a vast darkened room, with balconies opening into it.
comfortable bed
did not clean our room for 3 days even though they have promised to do so
This hotel should be condemned. Many electricians, linemen, grid workers arrived exhausted after working 16+ hours to restore power to the Kingston area. Only to find the rooms they were assigned, were unmade and dirty. Assigned different rooms, no sheets or bedding. Were told it's all in the laundry (what???) No soap or shampoo or towels and washcloths. What a disgrace!
A staff member was smoking right outside the door despite signs that state the law won’t allow smoking within 20 feet of the building. When I complained, he THREATENED us and said he would damage our car! Upon checking, the desk clerk didn’t appear for 15 minutes while I and another guest waited angrily, as our vacations were just wasted. That same clerk was later not at the desk either. The phone did not work, and the cabinet door housing the refrigerator would not latch so it dangerously stood wide open in the path to the bathroom. Total junky place.
It took us about an hour in hot hallways to find our room. Even staff had no idea where it was. This hotel is a maze and the room number is idiotic. Also stiffed me with some unrecognized charge I had to dispute. Also I took a nice video of the mouse by hotel entry. Avoid at all costs.
Horrible stay. I know one review will not make any difference. But very disappointed. No power to the room for 4+ hours. Only air condition working and bathroom light. The desk clerk offered another room. Status with that one. General Manager no response. The owner of the property should focus on customer retention and service. Every unhappy customer causes lot of negative outcomes for the business. The new hotel leadership team should be evaluated based on overall performance rather than just the topline. Customer retention.
The room was filled with fruit flies, and the bathroom door handle was broken in a way where you could lock yourself inside. Thank goodness I was travelling with someone else, otherwise I would definitely have been trapped.
