The pillows was heavily stained. It put me off the whole experience. I struggled to sleep once I discovered the pillows where dirty
We stayed for 5 nights. It was our second stay at the property. We needed a private room with ensuite and kitchenette, this property met our needs. The location is good, being a 10 minute walk from the train station, and close to the amenities on Preston high street and parks to go for a stroll, and local coffee spot. It is self-check-in so interactions with staff were minimal, but those we did have were very pleasant. There is a number provided to call if anything is needed. Housekeeping tended to the room each day we were there unless we put the do not disturb sign on the door. They tidied the bed, cleaned, refilled the teas/coffees/milk etc. WiFi was weak, but the staff were kind to give us access to the staff network for our stay. It was incredibly hot when we stayed and there is no A/C, but the staff provided a small fan. The kitchenette was missing a few items (pan, bowl, plate) but when we requested these items they were promptly brought to the room.
We booked a ground floor apartment which was "upgraded" to the J'adore room on the first floor. I did not see the room we originally booked but I imagine it is not an upgrade, I suspect they assign the rooms as they are available when booked via booking.com. The room was smaller than imagined, there was no bath. There are only roller blinds and no curtains or black out, so the street lights were coming through the windows and brightening the room - it made it very difficult to sleep. Black out curtains should be installed. The bed in the room is also incredibly soft and we felt like we were sinking into it. I prefer a firmer mattress but I understand hotels cannot accommodate to every preference. There are no windows or exhaust fans in the bathroom. The door to the ensuite is frosted glass which I found strange. The door to the room kept catching/struggling to close/open. One night the door to the room got caught open and we did not realise until a member of staff came to alert us to it. Being an older building the floor is not level. As we had the windows open due to the hot weather, lots of insects came into the room. There is a restaurant on the ground floor, I feel that they are losing a business opportunity not offering breakfast to hotel guests.
I think this probably looked good when it was first done. Comfy bed.

Difficulty getting in
Great location, 10 minutes walk from the train station. The communication prior to my stay was great and it was easy to access the building when I arrived. The apartment was clean and the bed was so comfy, and I loved the complimentary tea and coffee. I would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone.
Convenient & easy
Fire alarm went off & woke us up for a couple of mins in the middle of the night. Parking is a bit of a problem & room was average.
