Lovely people and location, but the property needs attention
Pros:

People and Hospitality
I would like to start with the most positive aspect of our stay: the people.

The staff we encountered were very nice, kind, polite and welcoming.

It was genuinely a pleasure dealing with them, and this is something that should absolutely be maintained.

The inn is located in a beautiful countryside setting, with the lovely bonus of being able to see horses from the room in the morning.

Cons:

Unfortunately, the first impression could be significantly improved, with unclear signage, neglected planters, visible containers and machinery, and a lack of clarity about the main entrance.

The rooms felt quite cramped, with mixed furniture styles, and the bathroom in particular requires significant renovation to meet expected standards.

The limited amount of soap and shampoo was also surprising, although the room was well equipped with a hairdryer, kettle, tea and coffee facilities.

The food was broadly what I would expect from a traditional pub, but I would recommend removing plastic flowers and unnecessary decorations and allowing the character of the historic building to stand out more.

The presentation of the menus could also be improved with a simple, practical and hygienic solution such as a wooden clipboard or laminated menu.

The proximity to Alton Towers is a major advantage that I believe the inn should promote much more strongly, particularly given its beautiful rural surroundings.

Overall, Peakstones Inn has great potential, and with improvements to maintenance, bathrooms, presentation and marketing, I believe it could offer a much stronger experience while preserving the excellent hospitality of its staff.

Lovely little stay
Pros:

Very friendly, great food in the pub , lovely location, upgraded us free to chalet

Cons:

Some dust in places in the room ( shelf above hanging rail area) , pub closed when we arrived and we weren't sure how to get in or find someone to get our key etc maybe add a sign on the side door for guests?

Lovely Family ran Inn!!
Pros:

A really friendly helpful family ran Inn, we were made very welcome, food was delicious and well cooked, location was exactly what we needed, lovely views and only a 5 minute drive to Alton Towers, would use again in the future and would recommend to family and friends and hope that they keep going for another 400 years plus!!

Cons:

Only a couple of small issues, it was not totally clean dead insects on the window sill and some cobwebs on the bathroom unit, windows were not totally clean, not all plug sockets were totally accessible understanding it is an old building but there was enough to use that we needed, the mattress on one of the double beds seemed a little aged these are minor issues which you can overlook and we have no other complaints.

Not for children if you want them to get to sleep at a reasonable time. Good for adult only groups who go to bed later .
Pros:

Good location
The staff were friendly.

Cons:

We could hear everything from the pub below in our room whilst trying to get our son to sleep. It wasn’t quiet until gone 11pm even though the pub wasn’t busy.. This included what people were saying and pool balls dropping into the pockets. The breakfast was very greasy and didn’t sit well with me at all so only ate the bacon and a few mushrooms.
