Julie the host is really lovely and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble and you’re made to feel at home.
Ideal if you’re booked on the churnet valley railway as it’s just down the road.
Only two small gripes.
The bedroom could do with a television so that we didn’t have to invade Julie’s private space to relax in the evening.
The bathroom we were allocated was very nice, but even with just the hot water flowing on its on it was only just warm enough for a sat down shower and not enough water pressure.

Julie went above and beyond, even gave us a lift to and from our evening meal venue. The breakfast was fabulous!!

Julie’s hospitality and friendliness were wonderful, we really enjoyed our stay with her and would definitely return if we were in the area again. Higherlands was a perfect location for where we needed to be, the bed was really comfortable (and we enjoyed the pool table too) and Julie’s breakfast was spot on!

Julie our host was wonderful, couldn't do enough for us ,even taxied us to the railway station for our murder mystery evening and then picking us back up.

A proper shower would have been better as there was a lovely free standing bath but just a handheld shower.

Julie was the perfect host , we were visiting for a wedding and she kindly dropped us and picked us up ….. even took photographs for us . Then had a delicious cooked breakfast in the morning . Fabulous

Everything was perfect. Julie was a superb host. Very friendly and welcoming. Delicious breakfast. Very clean and spacious bedroom and ensuite wet room. Felt very lucky to have unlimited use of the pool table. Excellent location for Churnet Valley railway and the local RSPB centres.
Nothing to dislike - absolutely spot on.
Very handy for the Caldon Canal. Loved the bath. Good breakfast, very friendly.
