I love traveling to see the Gators play - It was nice being a mile from the Gator Football Field for an event my family and I were attending. This was our first experience at a Holiday Inn.
The 2 ladies that worked both nights of my stay, (the ones that checked us in) they were both extremely nice, funny, they made sure my kids and I had everything we needed for out stay (only thing I would ask them to do different is specify if kids aren't included in the hotel room/breakfast package). The pool area was nice, clean, quiet - the kids enjoyed the games they had set out to play. Very convenient being right next to a Publix and lots of other shops/food places. The pizza restaurant downstairs was also very nice, the server I had was very friendly and accommodating - food was pretty reasonably priced.
Not too big of a fan of the room size - we had 2 queen beds, I thought their would be more drawer space or space to move around the room, but that's ok, we were only there to sleep pretty much. The beds weren't as comfy as I thought they would be, the ones we had are more for people who enjoy stiff beds.
The breakfast/lunch "bistro" ruined my entire stay - it is "restaurant style" not buffet, prices are a bit expensive for the quality of food. Unfortunately the staff I encountered for the 2 days I was there, they were not friendly at all, had attitude and absolutely no customer service skills - the 4 breakfast meals my family and I had, only apparently came with only 1 CHILD size drink (then I had to request refills since no one came back to check on the table, so instead of stating it'll cost extra, they waited until they brought it out expecting me to pay for them - we got water instead).
During one of the encounters, a server tried to say/use being Spanish as a reason to be incompetent and rude (even though they were speaking to me with no issue in English beforehand) -this was all because i asked for lemon for the water!!!! She got me a different server, even though I didn't ask for one -From the jump the male server was mad and didn't want my table, and tried to read my tables order back to me slow like I was literally dumb, but then proceeded to bring out the WRONG MEAL!!!! At the end of my meal, had the nerve to try to argue with me, kept trying to interrupt me in the conversation, then literally told me to "be quiet" in front of my children (they were in the wrong).
The Bistro ruined my entire stay, both mornings they ruined for me and my family -I did tell the manager of the hotel that I probably won't be coming back to their establishment due to their staff.
Location and clean

Overall everything very very good. Staff at the breakfast area excellent. Parking excellent.
Hall a little more clean.
It was clean.
In a spur-of-the-moment decision, we decided to drive to Gainesville the night before my son's football game to avoid getting up extremely early and making the drive the morning of the game. We booked this Holiday Inn because it was reasonably priced, looked nice, and was conveniently located near the stadium. I have stayed at Holiday Inn properties many times over the years and have always had positive experiences, so I felt confident booking this one.
I specifically selected the "Pay When You Arrive + Breakfast Included" option and reserved a Premium Room with Two Queen Beds. I intentionally chose the breakfast-included option because I knew we would have very little time before heading to the stadium the next morning, and it would be much more convenient to eat at the hotel than spend time searching for breakfast elsewhere.
When we arrived at around 11:00 PM, I checked in and paid for the room. I simply asked the front desk employee what time breakfast was served and where it was located. The response I received was cold and dismissive, as though I should have already known.
After checking in, I went back outside to place the parking pass in my vehicle while the rest of my family went up to the room. When I returned and reached the third floor, my husband met me in the hallway and asked if I thought they had given us the wrong room because there was only one bed and one roll-out bed, even though there were four of us.
I immediately went back to the front desk and explained that we had not been given the room we reserved. My reservation described a Premium Room with Two Queen Beds on the 5th floor with a pool view, but instead we were assigned Room 305 on the 3rd floor overlooking the parking lot. I was told the hotel was fully booked and that this was the only room they had available. The staff was very cold, showed no empathy, and made no effort to offer any solution.

The location was great! Close to the university
It was really, really hot in the room. Air-conditioning was not working well. The staff worked with us. Transferred us to another room when we complained the first time...but the second room was just a slight improvement...it was still very hot and air was heavy in the room. It cooled slightly at 4 am. By that time, it's almost time to get up ...so I didn't really get a good rest. They need to replace those old window air conditioner they have. It doesn't catch up with the Florida heat.
Liked the location near campus
The lobby and everything on the first floor stinks like sewage
