Great time at the Marriott
Pros:

We stayed in the Sea Oak building, room 9625, and absolutely loved the location. Being right next to the pool and just a short walk to the beach made everything incredibly convenient. We were also directly across from the pool bar/restaurant — the drinks and food were excellent, and it was great having it so close. The only downside is that it closes at 8:00, but while it’s open, it’s a perfect spot to relax.

The resort grounds are beautiful and very well maintained, with plenty of areas to walk, relax, and enjoy the scenery. We also appreciated that the resort sits away from the hustle and bustle of the Harbor Town and Coligny areas, giving it a quieter, more relaxed feel. Even so, we found it was still only about 10–15 minutes from pretty much everything on the island.

If beach access is a priority, the oceanside buildings (including Sea Oak) are definitely the best choice. The garden‑view buildings are farther back, and you do need to walk past the Westin to reach the Marriott oceanside area with the two pools and direct beach access — that walk can be close to 10 minutes depending on your pace. The garden‑view side is great for families with younger kids thanks to the kiddie pool, slide, and splash pad, but for adults or families with older kids, the oceanside buildings are the way to go.

Our villa was large, clean, and comfortable (But honestly the couch is too hard… a little more plush would be better). It had two bedrooms, with the second bedroom featuring two queen beds — perfect for families or groups. The furnishings were modern and well‑kept, and the whole space felt recently updated. The gym was also much nicer than expected, with modern equipment and a clean layout.(it does get crowded early with people saving chairs)

Every employee we interacted with was friendly and accommodating. The concierge team was fantastic; they gave us great ideas for things to do around Hilton Head and even connected us directly with the companies offering the activities.

Overall, this resort exceeded our expectations. Great location, great staff, and a really well‑maintained property. We would absolutely stay at this resort again but would need to be the oceanside part of the resort.

Awesome property , location and staff
Pros:

The location. Of this resort is fantastic if you want to be a little bit away from the crowded Coligny area. Barony is about 5 minutes from Shelter Cove.
There are trails galore and you can walk or rental bicycles at the resort for $15 a day. I would definitely recommend it.
We had vip check it so we were in a special area. I believe VIP check in. Is for people who have agreed to a sales presentation. Snack and beverages are available to you in this location for the duration of your stay. A nice little perk.
There is outdoor door service right off the pool. The location is perfect. The resort has two locations. Beach side and garden view. I personally would not stay in garden view. I would not want to the beach from there. It is about 5-10 minute walk depending who and what you have with you. The garden view villas do have the pool with the what features and slide, so if you plan to spend a lot of time utilizing them, that is a plus for sure.
We did not go into the garden view area aside from renting bikes so I do not know any more details for that area.
The Oceanside rooms are partial ocean view and oceanfront. If you are in the Sea Oaks building to us I’ll have a decent partial view. Farther back in live oaks the view is more obstructed due to tree growth.
There is a beautiful garden area that the partial ocean view rooms look down upon. There is a hot tub, hammocks, walking paths, bbq grills, table top games, corn hole, and a quieter pool with another hot tub.
The oceanfront villas look down upon the main pool and another hot tub.
Seating gets very busy and the main pool gets crowded. Pool towels are provided in villas. Geo more ocean a
Oceanside villas the beach is very easy to access. It is a beautiful beach !
The villas are fantastic. Our must have been recently renovated. Well appointed, beautifully furnished, large, and comfortable. Beds were so cozy!!! We were in villa 9638. Awesome oceanfront location.
I do have to give a shoutout to the staff. The exceeded of expectations as well as the resort in general. This was our first time in HH. We had a few requests, and the staff was to able to accommodate all of the them. We have never had that happen before.
Thank you EVERYONE!

Needs to try harder
Pros:

Marriott’s Barony Beach Club has a great Hilton Head location, solid grounds, good activities, and nice touches like live poolside music and excellent outdoor grills.

Service and operations, however, fall below typical MVC standards. Staff were less friendly and less knowledgeable than at other MVC resorts.

Garden View rooms are in a separate, isolated section about a quarter mile from the beach, and the shuttle isn't executed well. Hint cut through Westin where the Starbucks is available.

There’s no beach towel exchange, and if guests are expected to wash towels in‑unit, more detergent should be provided. No mid‑week cleaning during a long stay also makes the experience feel lower quality.

Overall, strong physical amenities but noticeable service gaps. This club could be spectacular if it tried harder and put in effort to deliver.

HHI getaway
Pros:

A long weekend getaway. Great location. Unfortunately, we were not able to get a ocean view/front accommodation. The rooms are very nice, the kitchen is well stocked. The chairs and sofa in the living area are very uncomfortable-very firm and straight stiff backs.

Marriott Barony Beach is quiet and relaxing.
Pros:

Very clean and quiet unit. Right on the beach for super easy access. Surrounding area is beautiful and relaxing. February a bit too cold to get in the water but great weather to run on the beach!

It was relaxing but the spa being closed was my biggest disappointment along with parking fees.
Pros:

We loved the location and the villas.

Cons:

I was disappointed that the spa was going through renovations during our stay so they were closed. That’s the main reason we stay at this resort. If I had known in advance about the renovation, maybe I would’ve had enough time to find another spa option with similar amenities. It was still relaxing but I do feel like the spa experience was missing from our annual trip.

I also didn’t know that the resort now charges $25/night per vehicle to park. This info should be on all booking websites and not just marriott. I was caught off guard during check in when I was advised of this new change. I received at least one email prior to my stay so it would’ve been nice to know this info prior to check in.

Yes , great , loved it , coming back 😂
Pros:

Great experience from beginning to end. The room was very spacious . Fully equipped kitchen with new appliances , new carpet and comfortable furniture. The bedroom was awesome I slept like a baby in fact I slept in . The shower was strong and hot. The entire apartment was spotless.
The ONLY critique is the bedroom door rubbed the door jamb. (I’m a general contractor ) I’m a little different lol.
The salt water indoor pool was the best .
The staff that we both encountered were / are very friendly and warm.
I can’t wait to return .

Nice Villas But Mixed Service
Pros:

We used Marriott’s Barony Beach Club as an overnight pitstop on our drive north from Florida. Having last stayed here in 2019, it was great to see the villas had been renovated.

The Villa (Gardenia Building)

We stayed in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom villa in the Gardenia unit. The villa was massive, impressively clean, and fully stocked with more kitchenware than you’d ever need for a one-night stay. Our balcony overlooked a lovely garden and pool area.

Note on Location: The Gardenia and Jasmine buildings are a trek from the beach. Also, the layout is a bit unique; these buildings are situated on the far side of the Westin, which seems to sit right in the middle of the Marriott property.

Dining & Amenities

Dining: Unfortunately, the on-site restaurant (All Y'all's Bar & Grill) was closed during our visit. If you don't want to drive off-property for food, the Westin next door has several dining options available.

Activities: They have a robust activity calendar. I was disappointed to miss "Turtles and Tequila" because we had to hit the road—it sounded like a blast!

Parking: They do charge for parking, which felt a bit like "nickel and diming" for a resort of this caliber.

Service & Vibe

My only real disappointment was the front desk. Being in the South at a high-end resort, I expected a warm, "Lowcountry" welcome. Instead, the staff weren't overly friendly and lacked the hospitality I’ve come to expect from this brand.

Summary: The rooms are huge, modern, and pristine. It’s a solid choice for families, though you should be prepared for a bit of a walk to the ocean and a somewhat cool reception at check-in.

Very nice place
Pros:

Very nice place but very confusing to get to. Lots of winding roads and a bit hard to find. I went in the winter months so it was off season for Hilton head and while I understand Hilton head is more of a summer destination, there were still a ton of snow birds there however unfortunately their several restaurants and bars on site were closed because they are seasonal which is just ridiculous!! If you pay that kind of money to stay somewhere atleast give me a bar to hv a drink because this place is way off the beaten path. They did hv a little store( very little) where I could buy a bottle of wine so there’s that I guess. They didn’t do tap with cards and so I wasn’t able to use my bank card which I prefer because it’s kind of old. It wasn’t a problem to put it on a different card just seemed odd that a swank place such as this didn’t do tap with cards. Everything is extra, parking and so on. All n all the place was clean and lovely and spacious there were just a few frustrating issues but otherwise a nice place.
