All staff were polite, friendly and helpful, especially the doorman.
The hotel was very clean and tidy and first impressions were very good.
Breakfast was excellent and lunch in the bar was very good.
The hotel is very old fashioned but this is mainly a big plus.
The reason we have given low markings was because the double bed was disastrously small and one of us had to sleep on the floor. We asked for an upgrade and were told that all beds were the same size.
The room was very small for the price we paid.
TV was small and the picture was not very good.
We had already paid over £400 per night to stay, and then the hotel added service charges onto just about everything they could think of. This was totally unreasonable and left us with a bad memory.
Location atmosphere and friendly staff
The bed could have been more comfortable
Ideally located. Spacious rooms. Nicely decorated.
Excellent staff
The shower was not ideal so bathroom got wet
So chic and they have thought of everything in the room from complementary fruit, milk and oatmilk, umbrella, the most exquisite bathroom items… and all so fabulously presented! Downstairs, the bar, lounge, dining space and magnificent library are all top notch! Staff exceptional in every way!
Everything; from the front door to our room everything was perfect.
The only thing I didn’t like that much was the matress, although it was not a problem for my husband.
Beautiful building. The staff were exceptional. The bed comfortable the bath looked great, but I thought if I got in it I might never be able to get out as it was so deep
The bar prices were exorbitant. 2glasses of wine, 1 whisky, 1 black coffee £60! The room was tiny even for London standards
Iconic. And very friendly staff
Everything was perfect.
Ich übernachte in London immer im The Gore. Ein stilvoller Klassiker, komfortabel, sehr höfliches Personal. Ein ruhiger Rückzugsort mitten in London. Der Zimmerpreis war diesmal für London moderat.
Sehr späte Zimmerreinigung (nach 15 Uhr). Laundry Service dauerte mehr als 48 Stunden.
кровати очень высокие. Человеку ростом 160 см тяжело забираться
Great location. Very helpful staff on reception desk and in the bar. Comfortable bed.
Breakfast service could be better organised. One morning pot of tea took 30 minutes or more to be brought after ordering. One morning my husband's order of muesli had clearly been forgotten and only appeared after a second request, and about 10 minutes after I'd eaten all my breakfast. No apology for the delay. We've stayed here before and breakfast was much better organised then.
Great location, quiet, quaint.
Parking. The best overnight parking is what the hotel recommends. The water pressure and plumbing is weak.
Beautiful building in ideal location. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast
My small room lacked accessible curtains or blinds, The only seating was a rickety kitchen chair I could buy from a junk shop for £10, so it was impossible to sit and read or watch tv or eat if using room service.
Gorgeous old school historical hotel. Charming, helpful and friendly staff. We stayed in the Judy Garland which was very special. The famous bar 190 of Rolling Stones fame still has an air of 60s magic and the cocktails are excellent!
Fantastic!
nothing
This would have been an enjoyable stay if the staff had not added the remainder of our deposit to our bill under spurious and seemingly random "staff charges" and had not informed us of this.
On check in, we were asked for 50 pounds deposit a night, told it was to cover the minibar and would be returned. This is common in London and I paid 100 for 2 nights. On check out I was presented a bill to sign without comment and asked to sign it. They asked if I had used the mini bar and I said no. We never use it. I knew I owed for a breakfast and was owed about 40 pounds. I checked the bill carefully and saw they intended to pay me back 2 pounds. When I asked why, I was told that the rest was added to the room bills (with seemingly random percentage amounts) as a "staff charge". When I asked why, since that never happens in London and we had paid a charge for the room fixed in advance, they changed their comment to call it a "discretionary room/staff charge". So, in effect, they just added a chunk of my deposit to the bill, and didn't tell me. This "staff charge" is mentioned nowhere on their literature, or on Booking.com or anywhere else. ON THE CONTRARY, see the enclosed image which says the price INCLUDES ALL SERVICE CHARGES!!!! I had also been told explicitly that the deposit was for the mini bar and breakfast. So I can only conclude that it was a cheap and nasty trick, which RUINED my whole experience right there, and made me determined never to return. Only when I said, angrily, that "I am totally uninterested in paying for anything other than the breakfast" they made me a new bill. Nasty, cheap and utterly unexpected from a hotel like this.
Friendly
Nothing
I am always warmly greeted as I have been going to this hotel for a number of years now.
Nothing not to like.
