We loved visiting the historic Inveraray Inn on Loch Fyne, Scotland on 16.06.26 😊❤️
The Inveraray Inn is a historic 3-star hotel located on Front Street East in Inveraray, Scotland.
Originally built in the 18th century, this vintage property overlooks the waters of Loch Fyne and offers a mix of traditional charm and modern hotel amenities.
Designed by the acclaimed architect John Adam and opened in 1755, The Inveraray Inn is one of the oldest and most historic hotels on the west coast of Scotland.
Originally built as "The Great Inn" to accommodate visitors to Inveraray Castle, the inn has evolved with the town over the centuries.
1744: The third Duke of Argyll initiates a major project to rebuild the town of Inveraray and Inveraray Castle, commissioning architect John Adam to help design the settlement.
1755: The Inveraray Inn officially opens its doors. It is built in a classic Georgian style.
18th & 19th Centuries: Throughout its early history, the property operates under several names, including "The Great Inn", "The New Inn", "The Argyll Arms Hotel", and "The Argyll Hotel".
The Steamship Era: The growth of steamship travel along the River Clyde transforms Inveraray into a popular tourist destination, with the hotel serving eager Victorian travellers.
Modern Day: Now operating as The Inveraray Inn, the 36-bedroom listed building offers Highland hospitality and remains one of the most distinguished accommodations in Argyll & Bute.
Inveraray is a historic planned town and former royal burgh in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, famously situated on the western shore of Loch Fyne.
Known traditionally as the "Capital of Argyll," this 18th-century town was completely rebuilt by the 5th Duke of Argyll, resulting in its highly distinctive, unified Georgian architecture and striking whitewashed buildings.
It serves as the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Argyll and the Clan Campbell 😊
Lovely location. Friendly staff.
The continental breakfast was poor value for money
Beautiful position near the loch. Dog friendly. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Good food. Spacious rooms with quality toiletries and big accessible showers.
Minor niggle in that waste basket in one room had not been emptied since previous guests
Ausgezeichnetes Frühstück, vielfältige Auswahl. Sehr schöne Lage mit Blick auf das Wasser.
Personal wirkte etwas gestresst.
