It’s clear the hotel is being run on minimal overhead costs as very few staff and not even offering room service to come

Air conditioning was not working and they did not provide room service after first night. As well the windows cannot be opened.

Very disappointing as our friend is seriously ill & we had driven up to see him.
Pros:

Not enough experience staff. The young girls tried so hard but they were dealing with so many complaints. We felt so sorry for them.

The four star rating in my view was overrated but was convenient for my visit to the city

The hotel appeared ‘tired’ and in need of some investment. The room which I was initially allocated was unhealthy hot and had an issue with the plumbing. Thankfully a member of staff arranged for a change of room which was an improvement.

Cons:

The room was an absolute disgrace. I booked an executive suite that cost 273gbp for one night. Granted, it was Saturday and the football was on. The room was in horrendous condition. No opening windows, the fan in the room was about 40 years old and did nothing at all. There is black mould in the bathroom. The toilet flush handle came off in my hand. The hot waster was scolding and the cold top was hot. I even ran the cold tap for around 15 minutes and it was still hot. The window wall looked like it had ringworm. There was mould sporse all over the wall. Sad to say but it was absolutely disgusting. A real let down especially when we paid such an amount for one night at a supposed 4 star hotel. Very sorry to say but there is no way it's a 4 star, it would be generous to even say 3 star. We picked this hotel because of its location to the main streets and the pictures on booking.com looked quite nice. We will most definitely NOT stay here again. I wish I'd of took more photos to add as well. We took a video of all the bathroom and the mold on the walls but it doesn't let me upload a video

Pros:

The team where great

Cons:

The rooms where to hot , I did ask for a fan the team gave me one . The next day after my rooms was cleaned . They replaced the fan with other one which did NOT work . I had to ask agin for the original fan .
There was no reason to replace the fan in the first place .
If you don’t have enough fans , let the guests open the window .
Oh that’s right that are glued shut .

Excellent. Facilities were spot on.
Pros:

It was great to find we had breakfast included. The receptionist was very helpful and explained how to reduce the parking fee.

Cons:

The room was very hot. I fan had been provided but to have been able to open a window would have been great. I do understand that it is an old building and any other time of year the heat of the room would not be an issue.

Cons:

Where to start: Windows don’t open. No air. No aircon, only a rattle fan. Unbearable heat and no sleep. Bathroom dated, dirty, broken taps. Stains on the carpet, spiders in the beds. Room stale and suffocating.

Lovely hotel right in centre of Chester
Pros:

Brilliant location, comfortable beds and lovely breakfast

Cons:

Window didn’t open, very hot fan helped.
Hard to get cold water from taps in bathroom, had to run for 5 mins to get cold water. The heated towel rail wouldn’t turn off.

Cons:

The fact that all windows were bolted shut on the hottest weekend of the year. Because someone trapped their finger in one room a week before why didn’t they just shut off that one room?
Our room was 40 degrees, no air felt like we couldn’t breathe had to keep going down stairs in the middle of the night to get fresh air.
No waters in the room there were water taps on the landing, but didn’t work no water in them which was absolutely ridiculous.
We got a refund for Saturday as we left and went to a different hotel but I wish I had of pushed for a refund for the Friday night.
It was the most unpleasant stay I have ever had in a hotel.

Comfy beds.

Restaurant was dirty with food on the floor and very sticky bar.
Staff had to take a bottle of wine to the pub next door to open it because they didn't have a corkscrew.
