Location was great
Room was small. Balcony was so narrow you could barely stand on it and it was grungy
Very good location.
At least one drawer in room. Better facilities to store clothes, better shower, better soap dispensers.
Friendly, efficient staff, comfortable hotel, good food.
Veldig fin beliggenhet, sentralt, god seng. Fantastisk utsikt fra rommet mot gamlebyen
Veldig sterk parfymelukt/luftfrisker ved inngang. Ble stadig sprayet ut doser med sterk og ubehagelig lukt.
Små/trange rom
The location and view were great.
The location and view were not worth the price I paid. I had the breakfast in the morning and there was hair in my food one morning and they never had both coffee machines working. They served the exact same thing every day and the quality trailed off at the end of the end of the morning. The bed and bedding were very low quality and they did not service my room one day. I paid nearly $500 USD a night for this so my expecations are beyond budget. They were definitely charging more due to the festival but did not staff accordingly (the staff that were there did the best they could, this was all a management failure). The hotel really had no amenities either. I would save a lot of money and stay on Rose St and walk a short distance to the same views.
The room was exceptionally clean, almost spotless. I also really appreciated the complimentary welcome water with lemon and ice available near reception on the ground floor, which was very convenient whenever I wanted a drink or needed to refill my bottle in the morning or evening.
The location is probably one of the best in Edinburgh: directly opposite the Scott Monument, right in the city centre, very close to the railway station and within easy walking distance of the main attractions. My room had a fantastic view over Princes Street and many of Edinburgh’s most famous landmarks.
The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was well equipped with toothbrush glasses, shampoo, liquid soap and shower gel. The room also had an impressively large TV, although I did not use it. Street noise was surprisingly limited even with the window open, and with the window closed it was barely noticeable.
Breakfast was not included in my booking, but there are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby offering breakfast.
The main downside was the price. Due to dynamic pricing during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the room rate was extremely high because of the large number of visitors in the city at that time.
Considering the standard of the hotel, I would also have expected hair conditioner to be provided alongside the other bathroom toiletries. A toilet brush would also be a useful and necessary addition to the bathroom.
Finally, it would be very convenient to have tea and coffee-making facilities with mugs in the room. This would be especially useful in the evening when you want something to drink without having to go downstairs to refill water at reception.
Unfortunately very noisey overnight even though windows shut. Otherwise excellent stay....and more hangers for stay duration
