I had a fantastic stay, to the rooms and the food it was all amazing. Someone stood out to me his name is Leo I don’t think he was our waiter but he did check on us to make sure we were good and I really appreciate it that someone so attentive to our table and man was I thirsty haha
I travel to Irving for work every few months and usually stay at the same hotel. This trip, however, my manager suggested that everyone stay at the same location, so I canceled my usual reservation and booked Texican Court instead. After looking at the photos online, I thought it looked like a charming, unique place.
One thing I didn't realize beforehand is that Texican Court is designed more like a motel than a traditional hotel. When I checked in, I was given a key card that also powers the room. I'd never seen that before, but I actually thought it was a neat feature.
My first impression of the room was that it was fairly basic. It did have a colorful retro-style refrigerator stocked with just about every drink imaginable, along with snacks like chips, nuts, and candy. I didn't touch any of it after seeing that a small bottle of water cost $6. I was surprised there wasn't at least one complimentary bottle of water. There also wasn't a microwave in the room.
Unfortunately, cleanliness is where my experience started to go downhill. The room was extremely dusty, and there were spider webs in several places. I even found a spider in the bathroom, and there was hair on the bedside table. I mentioned my concerns to the front desk and asked if the room had been vacant for a while because it genuinely looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. Thankfully, I always travel with disinfecting wipes and Lysol, so cleaning up wasn't a major inconvenience. Still, I've stayed in many hotels over the years, and I've never encountered that level of dust.
I also had an issue with the room door. I was locked out twice and had to walk back to the front desk each time for assistance. One of the employees eventually walked back with me and showed me the "trick" to getting the door open if it happened again. Apparently, I needed to lift the handle while pushing the door forcefully. While I appreciated the help, that really isn't something guests should have to deal with.
On my last day, I received an email asking if I was ready to check out. I normally just leave the key in the room when I leave, so I didn't think much of it. I saw the email at 12:09 p.m. (checkout is at noon) and immediately selected the option to check out. Later, I noticed I'd been charged a $50 late checkout fee for being just nine minutes past checkout. That felt excessive and left a bad impression.
To end on a positive note, the staff was friendly throughout my stay, the food at the Cantina was very good, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had excellent water pressure with plenty of hot water.
Unfortunately, those positives weren't enough to outweigh the cleanliness issues, the problems with the room door, and the late checkout charge. Because of those experiences, I would not stay here again or recommend Texican Court to others.
No mention of pet fee on booking.com. advised them that we would be bringing pets and no mention of a pet fee. Checked out with a zero balance on our account. Later was charged over $172 for a pet fee. Beware of deceptive practices.
It was a place to sleep
Staff not willing to print a receipt for my stay because I booked with booking.com
Very unique and beautiful
This hotel has a great Texas vibe. From the courtyard to the rooms, everything was nice. We had a King room on the first floor. It was spacious. Loved the bathroom configuration with a great hair blow dryer. (sometimes the little things matter) The rooms are filled with snacks and drinks for a price, with the prices not super outlandish. The valet parking was $18 a night, which we were ok with. However, there is a Valet Service Charge that was added to the bill of $4.32 a night that we did not expect. We ate breakfast at the on site restaurant - Two Mules Cantina and enjoyed it. There was so much you can walk to from the hotel - restaurants, venues, community area. It was just a nice and convenient place to stay.
The Texican Court was a retro hotel in a downtown setting. It was easy to walk to places and the service was great! I loved the fact that I was provided an ice cold beer at check in. It was a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend the place.

Staff are SO friendly and the food was exceptional. Thank you for making an Australian football fan feel so welcome
Love the vibe of this hotel. Everything in the property was thought of, from the beautiful robes, to the fridge, seating outside the rooms, to the small details of being welcomed with a cold beer. If I am ever back to Dallas, this will be my next stay.
It was very hot during our stay, would like an indoors hand out place.
This is not a nice place. It's like Motel 6 made up just enough to look trendy on insta. First off, the room was still not ready for check in at 7:30pm, despite check in starting at 3. I waited all day and could not get into a room until after 8pm.
The air conditioning in the room is subpar at best. It's all style over function. The bed is uncomfortable, the air doesn't work well, can't sit on the old couch thing for longer than 2 minutes, no luggage rack, no clothes hangers with clips. Pictures of the room show carpet but there isn't any. The floor is a hard concrete slab with not even a throw rug. It kills your back to walk on the hard concrete floor and it's cold. So alarming first thing in the morning. If this was a normal price then sure but it is very expensive for a seemingly budget motel. 4 figures for 4 nights should get you more than this lipstick on a pig.
