In general I was quite happy and have rebooked at Christmas time.
Pros:

Room suited basic needs very well. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast good

Cons:

Clearly the building is showing signs of age and needs to be refreshed.

The staff at the Shah of Persia Hotel were great, welcoming and profesional ,
Pros:

Mr Ian, the manager, was absolutely brilliant, and we cannot praise him enough; a gentleman, professional and accommodating.
The room was big and clean but very dated; the bath and showers were clean but dated and severely need a revamp. The windows are neglected, dated and disregarded. The carpets and the colours of the walls need to change to be more welcoming; the place needs a little attention and a revamp as a hotel. It is a shame that it has been left like this; it has good potential and can be great with a little attention and care. You can keep the same prices, but with a higher occupancy rate.
These comments are as suggestions because we liked our stay and hope to visit again in the future.

The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly and very welcoming .we stayed for one night.. came to attend a wedding

Cons:

Unfortunately the room wasnt very clean, the carpet was not cleaned properly, it's was sticky in one area near the bed, the bed was uncomfortable. The bathroom floor and bits on and glues patches. The water in the bath was very slow drain.

The breakfast wasnt very good we had poached eggs, avocado on brown, eggs weren't cooked properly and avocado was off. Sent it back and didnt reorder. They were nice to let us have the tea and juice on the house.

Good stopover en route to France.
Pros:

We booked our rooms in order to take an early morning ferry to France so the location was key and it worked perfectly. The accommodation was what you might expect for a pub with rooms - perfectly adequate with good parking and not far from the town centre.

Cons:

The windows were a bit dirty and difficult to open for fresh air. Carpets in the stairs and corridors could do with a deep clean or replacement but the room was ok.

We wouldn’t go back, the poor staff were rushed off their feet.
