Pros:

Staff at front desk were all superb. Location is great. Bed and bedding was super comfy.

Cons:

Despite setting thermometer in room at 66 it never got cooler than 72 and it felt more like 80. Too hot for us.
Bartender in restaurant with brown hair in a tight bun was super rude not once but multiple times. Posted hours for restaurant stated it was open until 11 on Friday & Saturday but they closed early both nights. Yikes! We had planned to spend time there. Also, mediocre food.

Very comfortable rooms and friendly welcoming staff
Pros:

The staff at the front desk really creates a welcoming atmosphere. My king room was spacious, and the temperature remained comfortable throughout the night (not always the case!) The bed was like a cloud, and I loved the Nespresso-like coffee machine.

The restaurant downstairs, Wood + Paddle, served a very good breakfast (not included) and had a stylish, modern atmosphere with excellent staff.

Cons:

Room-wise, the hotel only offers housekeeping every 3 days (you can ask for more frequent, but I missed the deadline each day...). My only need was coffee and creamers, so I sought out one of the very kind housekeeping staff.

IMO the lobby needs a do-over. It clashes with the "royal" theme going on elsewhere in the hotel. Look, lobbies aren't the most important part of the stay, but it impressed me - not in a good way. Here's my memory/impression after returning home: it's large, white, with an absurdly large white table in the middle of the room surrounded by cherry red chairs. Behind the absurd table is a HUGE flatscreen so bright and disorienting that I was never quite able to actually look at it without getting dizzy to see what was being displayed. All in all, it just lacked coziness and room to rest and connect with people.

Pros:

I loved the location. Set up with easy access to restaurants and shopping nearby. The hotel has a very cool vibe as soon as you enter. Loved that the elevators required a key card for security.

Cons:

Need an exhaust fan in the bathroom.

Pros:

We were able to walk to the Twins game. We had a pretty late check in and staff were very friendly and helpful

Cons:

Nothing I didn’t like about the property, but there were drunk people on our floor in the middle of the night screaming and being disruptive.

So Glad I Chose The Royal Sonesta
Pros:

This was my first trip to Minneapolis, and I debated quite a bit on where to stay, but I’m so glad I chose The Royal Sonesta. The room and city views have been great, but what has really made the experience stand out is the hospitality.

Zac and Muhamed at The Royal Sonesta have been incredibly welcoming, kind, and genuinely helpful throughout my stay. It’s rare to come across people who make you feel so taken care of anymore, and they truly made a lasting impression.

I also have to mention Brandon at Wood + Paddle, who has been just as welcoming and lovely. Plus, he makes a great French 75! Experiences like these have really made my first trip to Minneapolis memorable. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here. I’ll be back for sure.

Pros:

I stayed at the hotel together with my wife from May 7 to May 8, 2026.
The hotel is very conveniently located in downtown Minneapolis — it is pleasant and easy to walk from there either to the Mississippi Riverfront and Stone Arch Bridge, or to the Basilica of Saint Mary and nearby parks.
Inside, there is a very cozy and comfortable restaurant. At the front desk, you are welcomed by an extremely polite, attentive, and friendly staff. At the same time, they are never intrusive, which creates an especially pleasant atmosphere. I honestly do not know where they train their employees, but once you are in their care, you simply melt because of the level of service and communication they provide.
I would especially like to thank Jason, who welcomed us at the reception desk during check-in. After exchanging just a few words with us, he immediately understood exactly what we needed. He explained where everything was located, suggested the best ways to get around the city, and even provided us with a map, which helped us a lot while exploring Minneapolis.
Thank you, Jason! Thanks to you, my wife and I truly had a wonderful time in Minneapolis.
In short about the hotel: clean and spacious rooms, excellent beds, and very convenient parking.

Cons:

Nothing — everything was excellent.
