This was meant to be a treat for my partners birthday, and we were disappointed with the experience.
Pros:

The towels - very fluffy. Also the view from our window was good, I do like a Melbourne city view.

Cons:

Firstly, the facilities. I selected this hotel for the advantage of pool facilities. On arrival was told the pool was not available. Secondly, the shower was terrible, difficult to get the right temperature and there was little water pressure.

Pros:

The Grand Hyatt is always a reliably great experience. We use the restaurant often, but this time we tried the bar/lounge for the first time for a coffee. It was so relaxing sitting in the comfy chairs, reading the newspapers provided and looking out on the streetscape (and the coffee was very good!). The rooms are always wonderful, with or without a river view and the staff, exceptional. I don't think you can find a similar level of quality or convenience at this pricepoint elsewhere in Melbourne.

Great location.

Cons:

No pool and spa facilities available which was not discussed before booking. Front office staff were abrupt then discussing the lack of facilities available due to renovations and offered no compensation or compassion.
Room view was nice, but there was dust and bathroom had mold (potentially due to age of room).
For a 5 star hotel, the experience was not brilliant and we will not be returning.
