We booked this property because it appeared on Booking.com when filtering for pet-friendly accommodation. We were looking for somewhere to stay with our dog, not a place to visit for food or drinks. Unfortunately, we only discovered afterwards that dogs are not allowed in the accommodation rooms, meaning the listing was misleading. We were left having to find alternative accommodation at the last minute, causing unnecessary stress, disruption and additional expense.
Despite this situation being caused by unclear and misleading information, the property refused to take responsibility. We were charged the full amount for the booking and our request for a refund was rejected.
What has been most disappointing, however, has been the extremely poor customer service. We contacted the property and followed up several times, but our messages were completely ignored for days with no response or attempt to resolve the issue.
The staff were amazing nothing was a problem so helpful the room upgrade was fantastic as was breakfast

Lovely village pub with welcoming staff. Attractive pub garden and comfortable surroundings. Rooms are spacious with great facilities for the price. The included breakfast was delicious, with locally sourced ingredients. A great stay, at a great place, with great staff at a great price.
I like the garden, the breakfast, and the bar area.
I like the Black Horse as i have stayed there before. If I can fault anything, it would be the uncomfortable beds, and the room was a little hot, with small windows.
This was a great find after our day out at Rutland, around a 20 minute drive away. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who checked us in and asked if there was anything else she could help with. The room was huge with a double bed and a single, tastefully decorated and very clean. There were tea/coffee facilities and a large fan which was very welcome considering the sweltering heat. The shower was really good, which is always a bonus. The bar area was spacious with comfortable arm chairs/sofa and a TV. We had a table booked in the restaurant for dinner, the food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and efficient. All in all we very much enjoyed our one night stay and would definitely book again.

Excellent breakfast, spacious bedroom .
Our bedroom had a window with curtains to draw. Also in the roof there were two Velux windows which full daylight to shine into the room from early morning , the room was so bright it was impossible to sleep.
A clean good size bathroom but it lacked hanging space for towels and a shelf would have been useful for toiletries.
