Guest Reviews
The location was great, walking distance to the train and subway and from some great shopping and restaurants. The staff at the reception were very nice and helpful. We quickly learned to rely on them (and only on them) for great restaurant recommendations, and assistance with direction. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel restaurant has a delicious dinner menu and the staff at the restaurant are very nice.
The concierge function was not helpful. In fact, it felt as though the persons filling that position were there only to prevent guests from speaking to the receptionists. It was unfortunate that in addition to this, they were not knowledgeable or able to respond to questions (on location of sites or directions, for example) without checking with the receptionists.
Another strange thing: when we asked whether the reception could print out our boarding passes for us, they refused saying hotel policy will not allow them to print anything for the guests. We had never before encountered this in any hotel, anywhere. Normally, if the reception is unable to help guests print out something, they offer the service of a business center in the hotel.
The staff doesn't speak English and showed no willingness to help. At first, we received a very small room and asked to upgrade it for an extra fee. The breakfast is not appealing to a Western palate. There are only two washing machines and the queue is so long that it's impossible to do laundry easily. There are no hygiene products beyond the basics in the onsen. There was a bad smell in the room, and we got bitten during the night, possibly by something in the sheets. An unpleasant experience
It was clean and location was perfect.

The rooms hat a weird smell (like sweat) - we asked for a room change, which they thankfully did - unfortunately the second room smelled too, more tolerably, but still!
The sofa had stains.
The bathroom was very small full on plastic - it reminded us of an airplane washroom.
Within walking distance of attractions. Great public bath.
Location was great. Lobby inviting and welcoming. Some staff speak English. Helpful with directions and recommendations.
