Cannot beat this location and value
Pros:

This location is absolutely amazing-it is literally on St. Mark's Square! We only had 24-hours in Venice, so this maximized our stay and I would stay there again for this reason. The staff was very courteous and professional and helped us get a last minute water taxi to the airport. The bartender was quite nice and the lounge/bar are very charming. The room was a bit outdated and bathroom a bit small. However, the beds were a good size and they even could fit a cot in the room for us. Be aware that in this prime location you will hear the bells chiming in St Mark's Square, which happen at midnight and 6am-it didn't bother me and I found it charming.

Pros:

After changing the room, our family liked the space in the rooms, view from one of the windows. Staff in the breakfast hall was very polite and helpful. Rooms were clean.

Cons:

Before booking the rooms we have been in contact with hotel manager and she confirmed that we will stay in the room with the view. When we came in the hotel (it was very late at night) the receptionist were poorly speaking English and we got a room with a view to.....toilets. In the morning at the reception they told us to pay additional if we want to have a view (even if that was paid already) and just after that they give us a room with the view. We felt deceived and overpaid... Also, even if there were signs that in the hotel is not smoking, the smell in the coridors were of ciggarettes smoke. Breakfast all days was the same and very poor.

Pros:

The location is unbelievable. Having breakfast looking directly at the San Marcos Basilica is something we will not forget. It is literally 1 min from the square, but the room was 100% silent.

Cons:

The entrance and first impression is not so great, but this hotel was unexpectedly good!
