Pros:
Strong location near venues/downtown

Valet parking and convenient on-site food/cafe options
Cons:

Safety concerns around the hotel (homeless/drug use) and breakfast not included

Categories

Cleanliness
6.8
Multiple guests reported mold in grout, missing towel racks/limited towels, flies and inconsistent housekeeping; some areas (lobby/hallways) noted as clean but room-level cleanliness is a recurring negative.
Service
9.6
Mixed reports but generally strong: several mentions of polite front-desk staff and an outstanding waitress (China) and efficient valet at times; isolated incidents of rude front-staff and very slow valet retrievals noted, but overall service is a strength.
Location
9
Frequently praised for proximity to venues and downtown attractions (close to CFG/venues), convenient for events; however guests flagged safety concerns (homeless/drug use nearby).
Room Quality
6.6
Multiple complaints about outdated rooms and maintenance: lumpy/uneven beds, cracked bathroom window, broken safes, missing fixtures and signs of needed repairs — room quality scores below average.
Amenities
8.8
Strong lobby/bar atmosphere and useful on-site food options; rooftop/sky bar is a positive when available but has been closed at times; elevators are slow and sometimes out of service, creating inconsistency.
Value for Money
8.6
Perceived as reasonably priced by some given the historic character; others complained about extra fees (e.g., $50 valet) and service shortfalls that reduce perceived value.
Food and Beverage
9
Mixed but generally positive: praised restaurant staff and cafe/coffee choices; disappointments include breakfast not included/unexpected charges and an isolated report of a DoorDash delivery theft.
Overall Experience
8.8
Guests appreciate the hotel's history, lively lobby/bar and location for events, but ongoing maintenance, room condition and occasional service/safety issues lead to a mixed overall impression.

Pros:

The staff are nice, friendly, and helpful. Everyone seems willing to answer questions and chat briefly as time and function allows. This is my second year visiting here and I am hoping to go back next year as well. Room was clean, well stocked and comfy.

Cons:

Staff did their best to help but they seemed to be not as knowledgeable as they could be about things going on at the hotel. One person advised about skybar hours after we said we wanted to check it out but didn't know there was an event the day we wanted to go and even if they didn't know hours of the event or who was hosting the event expecting them to know x day has an event doesn't seem like too much. Also we asked about the murder mystery shows as far as where they are to another staff member and she just sent us to the magic theater site without any explanation other then that will explain and even just seemed to randomly throw in something about a drag show brunch. It took me at least 10 minutes of poking around on the site to finally find out that the murder mystery were a rotating Sunday event related to the theater and that the weekend we were there it was a drag show going on not a murder mystery. I could have and would have understood if she had said something like that is a Sunday brunch event and it rotates between that and some other things this week we have a drag show instead, but that she just sent me to a site and I had to figure that out on my own was frustrating. The room set up was a little awkward with positioning of the beds vs the TV, me and my friend like to chill on our vacation and watch food Network it is part of our tradition on these yearly trips and TV was awkward to see from one of the beds.

I’m a business women, not a college student.
Pros:

The rooms were very clean

Cons:

Was not informed a college had move in day the day of my stay resulting in me being late to a meeting due to the over flow of traffic outside of the hotel resulting in no valet access and elevator delays.
