1st Knock Is On Us The Next 30-45 Minutes Is On Them
Pros:

We recently stayed at this Marriot location (Long Beach) July 15, 2026 - July 19, 2026. We had two rooms on this trip that were conjoined for parents (one room) & children (conjoined room). While my wife and I went on an outing on Saturday we received an unfortunate barrage of texts and calls from my 16-year-old who was still in our room while we were gone. From about noon to about 12:45 my child was telling us that hotel housekeeping kept harassing her to open the door and let them clean the room even though she repeatedly told them that we do not need the rooms clean. We give our children explicit instructions not to let anyone in the rooms while we are gone and not to open the door for anyone other than us.

Marriot cleaning staff refused to take no for an answer. They continued to bother my daughter for 30-45 minutes speaking through the security lock and knocking on the door. This did not end until one housekeeping person knocked on the conjoined room door (parents) which was also security locked. My daughter told them the same thing. They then stated that they spoke with my daughter's mother and said she was allowed into clean. My wife promptly showed me this text message. It was a blatant lie by the housekeeping staff!! My daughter opened the door and allowed them to clean the room based off that misinformation.

I cannot think of the words to illustrate how unsettling this is for any parent. I called the hotel immediately and the first number I dialed automated sent me a text to call the hotel front desk 562-425-5210. I described the event to the 1st front desk representative.

HOWEVER, in the meantime, Long Beach Marriott's front desk manager picked up, and he had the exact opposite level of concern that his direct report had. He repeatedly blamed us for not putting the do not disturb sign on the door. This is only partly valid. A single knock on the door and the occupant stating come back later is the fault of occupant because we did not put the DND sign on the door BUT 30 - 45 minutes of harassing a minor is never acceptable unless there is an emergency!!!! Even worse, making up a lie that a pervert would make up to enter a teenager's room like "I spoke to your mom, and she said I could come in" is even more not acceptable and grossly disturbing at minimum!!!!

I notified the police and reported it with them. It seems like both the first front desk woman and the officer I spoke with understood the graveness of this situation, but the manager gentlemen could not grasp how serious this was. He stated that the cleaning crew was just doing their job and that this was my fault. Again, harassing minors and making up lies should NOT be a part of a cleaning crews job description. Is that how you train your housekeeping crew?

I have several experiences at hotels that when a housekeeping knocks on the door, I will say something like "please come back later" or "no need for cleaning today" and they leave me alone whether I have a sign on the door or not. I have never been harassed at any facility EVER until this visit. I asked the front desk manager to try to view the situation from a parents' perspective and he refused. He continued to place blame on me. This is not right!

Was quiet when sleeping, that was it.
Pros:

I enjoyed the Lobby and the Starbucks hours

Cons:

The pool area, the heater was broken in the pool. I let the front desk know and no one ever went to fix it, the indoor pool was dirty and not heated. I chose this hotel specifically for the pool because it looked nice. I am renovating my home and needed a place to see the last three days, from my experience at other Marriott in California they’re gorgeous. This one did not satisfy me at all. I didn’t appreciate paying the money I did and not being able to enjoy the pool. The hours of the restaurant are horrible was not happy with this. Marriott makes Long Beach look bad comparing to other Marriott around California.

Average at best.
Pros:

I liked that a restaurant was attached and this is why we chose this hotel. It was also very clean.

Cons:

Since we didn't have queen beds, but 18 year old son wanted to make a bed on the floor to have more room. We were told no when called for more blankets and pillows. When paying what we did for this room I'd expect to get a couple more pillows and comforters--very disappointing. And, Wi-fi is not included, this is also disappointing. For this price point and no continental breakfast not getting extra pillows, blankets and wi-fi, seems ridiculous. We won't be back.

It was just ok. Probably wouldn’t stay again.
Pros:

Location was convenient.

Cons:

Sheets had blood stains on them and comforter had water stains on it. It wasn’t very clean. The pool also had a bunch of leaves in it.

Good enough, just be aware of the mini-fridges
Pros:

I’m deducting a star for their mini-fridges (coolers) that don’t stay on 24/7. The coolers in the rooms only stay cool for 2 hours at a time and 8 hours overnight. We had medication for my son that needed to stay refrigerated. I ended up buying a mini-fridge from Target to keep it refrigerated. Other than that the battery lock on our door died and had to be replaced. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. The stuff is friendly enough, even when they were informing me that they had no actually refrigerators and they couldn’t store the medication for us (not that I would do that). The only rude staff was a young man at the Starbucks in the lobby. Refused to acknowledge me even when I stood at the counter and made eye contact for thirty seconds. He started making a drink for my wife who is allergic to dairy and when I tried to tell him how she likes it he said he knew how to make it in a condescending tone. I just walked away. The manager made it up to us with free beverages and muffins. Just be aware of the fridge situation. I don’t know if that’s a SoCal thing or a Marriot policy, but they’re claiming it’s for economical purposes yet I’m sure that won’t be reflected in the bill.
