The location is perfect, the atmosphere is welcoming. The room was fine, but I expected it to look and feel a bit more crisp. There were no coffee cups for me to enjoy coffee. The shades on the window seems a bit dingy, along with the bathroom feeling in need of a refresh.
As far as value, I believe the value would have been very good if the rooms were refresh.
Location & atmosphere was great. Beautiful hotel! Room was spacious, but the Air Conditioner was not working properly & had to be serviced. Also, had to request daily housekeeping to replenish coffee, towels, etc. As a high end hotel at a cost of $2000.00 for 6 days. We were disappointed in the bar menu which was the same as the 1540 Restaurant overpriced & not expected bar food as on the website. Concierge service was only available the day we arrived & Thursday before we left. Loved the Pool & Cabanna Bar. Scott was very attentive & pleasant. Valet Service attendants were pleasant & helpful with directions. Biggest complaint is your staff at the front desk & proof bartender. Never greeted or Asked about our stay. Actually pretty rude & not helpful at all. Next visit will be at another hotel!
The only positive thing is the location. The rest of the experience is abysmal. It is overpriced, and the rooms are very tired, including dirty bathrooms with even dirtier grout. Furthermore, DO NOT allow them to valet park your car. Ours was severely damaged, and after we caught the Valet trying to wipe off the paint from the side of our vehicle where he ran into the wall (I have photos of him doing so), they have given us the runaround and refused to accept responsibility. Terrible place, terrible experience, in an otherwise lovely city. There are many more options and much better choices available.
Great full service hotel with super friendly staff. The soundtrack playing in the lobby is fun. Great vibes and excellent location.
The De Soto is a very nice hotel. Everyone that worked there was helpful and friendly. If in Savannah again, we will definitely be staying there!
Everything was great. They accommodated us with the refrigerator and the room was clean. The shower pressure was awesome. Plenty of towels housekeeping came every day and we even enjoyed the pool as it was very warm in Savannah.
Location is wonderful, but the DeSoto seems to be feeling its age. Dated rooms, slow service, small misses (like busted soap dispensers) that add up over a stay. I want it to return to its former reputation!
Great atmosphere, the room itself was slightly underwhelming but the staff and other facilities were amazing!
The cleanliness of the room was unacceptable. For this to be a historical site, the condition of the housekeeping was extremely disappointing. The linens in my room were dirty, and although the front desk staff was very helpful and provided clean linens, housekeeping later restocked the room again with dirty linens and never changed the pillowcases, which had visible residue on them.
The floors had not been swept, and the baseboards were covered in dust and dirt, giving the impression that the rooms are not being cleaned thoroughly or regularly. Even around the sink, there was noticeable buildup that could easily be removed with basic cleaning.
This was not just an issue with my room—several colleagues who attended the business trip also experienced cleanliness problems in their rooms.
The only positive part of my stay was the front desk staff and the valet parking team, who were both excellent and provided great service.
Old Savannah, nicely appointed. This is where I stay when I'm in town. You feel like you're in Savanna. Well located for walking to the river.
We were disappointed at our stay during this time. We had to change rooms and the room we were given, we found bugs in the bed. We have video that we won't share. We did receive a discount on the room once reported. It did not make it better. We had to change our own linens. The furniture and fridge was damaged or maybe not upto par.
The next day hospitality knocked on the door at 9am and 10am when check out is 11am. Not cool.
JJ was the sweetest when I made my reservation. It went down hill from there. Not one employee smiled or showed that southern hospitality. The barista never smiled and was not friendly. When I asked about a cup of coffee at the front desk at 7pm last night, the girl at the desk was very curt when she explained where the coffee maker was hidden in our room. The desk person this morning was not pleasant at all. I’m sorry we bothered him.
The sink faucet was very loose. You had to hold on to the faucet while you used your other hand to turn it on.
The bathroom is very small. Probably will stay somewhere else where they are glad to see us.
No cups or ice bucket in our room. Hard to access any drinks in the hotel. And no mini fridge to keep anything cold. Also, pool advertised small bites but they only had a hummus cup and mini meat tray.
Hotel staff were welcoming, helpful and resourceful. I would recommend The DESOTO to colleagues, friends as well as family.
The DeSoto is the perfect
Place to stay right in the middle of historic Savannah, walking distance to all the beautiful squares, the riverfront, and Forsythe. The view from the rooms is amazing. The hospitable staff strive to make your visit special. This is our third stay and we hope to return again!
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
We had a great stay overall! The location was perfect, the lobby was beautiful, and every staff member we encountered was friendly and welcoming. The pool was clean and provided a great place to relax on some very hot days, although a few additional lounge chairs around the pool would have been appreciated.
A couple of amenities we missed were a mini fridge and a smart TV. Not having a refrigerator was inconvenient, as we brought food back to the room several times and couldn’t save leftovers. We also would have enjoyed the ability to log into our streaming services, as the TV options were fairly limited.
We had hoped to dine at Proof & Provision during our stay, but the menu was quite limited on two of the days we were there. That said, they offered an excellent drink selection and a great atmosphere.
None of these items negatively impacted our trip, they were simply amenities we personally enjoy having while traveling. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely consider staying here again.
Gio was helpful on our departure and the main desk was very accommodating. Only suggestion would be to open coffee shop before 7 am :)
no coffee pot in the room!
54.00 to park
A bit disappointing
Great place to stay. Very clean. All staff friendly and accommodating. Central to walking and getting around. Went to a concert at theater Johnny Mercer. Would definitely stay here again.
